Search TipsBecause of the amount of fraud, a bank is under NO legal obligation to cash a check drawn on one of their accounts if the person cashing it is a Non-Customer. If they decide to cash a check it is also legal for them to charge a fee for this "service" for Non-Customers.
If you want to avoid this fee then deposit the check in your own bank account. If you don't have an account then this is unfortunately something you are going to have to deal with.
