Austin's Bicycling Future
The City of Austin now has a plan to make Austin one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the country.
Thursday, city council was set to approve the first update to the city's bicycle plan in more than a decade. Due to a technicality, voting on the bike plan has been pushed back.
THE TECHNICALITY IS THAT THESE ELITISTS FORGET THAT THEY CAN'T PASS THEIR IMPERIAL FIATS WITHOUT THE SHEEPLE, THE FORGOTTEN PEOPLE WHO PAY THE BILLS -- THE TAXPAYER -- BEING CONSULTED.
THIS WAS A DONE DEAL --NOT!
WHEN ARE THE ORDINARY PEOPLE GOING TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE THAT THESE ELITE ONLY REPRESENT OTHER ELITE. AND IF THEY AREN'T MORE CAREFUL ABOUT WHO THEY ELECT TO OFFICE HERE, THEY WILL BE IGNORED AND EXPECTED TO PAY THE BILLS FOR ARROGANT, OUT OF TOUCH OFFICIALS.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE THE ANGLES OF WHO IS GETTING WHAT UNDER THE TABLE BECAUSE THESE NOBLE CAUSES ARE USUALLY A FRONT FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE A LOT OF MONEY AND SEVERAL LOCAL SCAMS WHICH APPEAR TO SELF-RIGHTEOUS COME TO MIND!
The updated plan will call for more than 900 miles of bike lanes throughout the city, nine new miles of bike boulevards and more than 100 miles of multi-use lanes.
The price tag for the plan is $250 million.
WHO IS GOING TO GET THE MONEY TO BUILD THIS?
FOLLOW THE MONEY! BECAUSE THAT IS WHO IS PROBABLY BUYING THE BEER AND THE PREMIUM CIGARS IN THE PROVERBAL SMOKE-FILLED BACKROOM IN WHICH ALL SNEAKY POLITICAL DEALS ARE MADE WITH NO INPUT FROM THE TAXPAYERS!

Incoming City Council Member and avid biker Chris Riley said it's about time the city gets serious about transportation cycling.
THE PEOPLE IN RED CHINA AND OTHER THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES ARE SERIOUS ABOUT BICYCLES TOO, DUDE,THIS IS TEXAS. OUR STREETS ARE DESIGNED FOR AUTOMOTIVE TRAFFIC AND NOTHING IS WORSE THAN TO SEE SOME SMUG, SELF-RIGHTEOUS YUPPIE B*ST*RD ON A BICYCLE RUN THROUGH A STOP SIGN WITH THAT SPANDEX A** ALMOST IN YOUR FACE FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE!
"So we're talking about taking care of 5 percent of our trips citywide and 10 percent in the central city for what's really a pretty reasonable sum," Riley said. "On top of that, we're talking about a type of transportation that is very environmentally friendly and offers significant benefits in terms of the public health as well."
According to the city, less than 1 percent of people in Austin ride their bikes to work.
BICYCLES ARE EASY TO STEAL. EASY TO HIT DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. IF YOU DRIVE AT NIGHT, SOME DRUNK: COLLEGE STUDENT, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT OR YUPPIE OR LOBBYIST WILL PROBABLY HIT YOU AND KILL YOU. THESE DEATHS ARE NOT PUBLICIZED VERY OFTEN BECAUSE THE PROPAGANDAMEISTERS WANT ONLY GOOD THINGS OUT ABOUT THIS PLACE. OVERQUALIFIED PEOPLE CONTINUE TO COME HERE AND KEEP LABOR COSTS CHEAP!
Under the updated bike plan, the city wants 5 percent of people to ride their bikes to work.
THE CITY WANTS FIVE PERCENT OF PEOPLE TO RIDE THEIR BIKES TO WORK.
WHAT ABOUT WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT TO DO?
WHY ARE THESE BUNCH OF ELITES GOING TO DICTATE TO ORDINARY PEOPLE WHAT WE CAN DO.
WHAT ABOUT DISABLED AND OLDER PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO RIDE BIKES? MAYBE THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE EMPLOYED AND NEED TO BE PUT IN SCHWARZENEGGER-LIKE CAMPS?
Mayor-elect, Lee Leffingwell says when they vote on the plan they will only be voting on the plan, not to spend any money.
WHEN YOU PEOPLE HAVE A PLAN, YOU WLL BE SPENDING MONEY.
YOU CAN ALWAYS DEPEND ON THESE PEOPLE TO LIE TO US.
PEOPLE KEPT VOTING DOWN THE LIGHT RAIL SERVICE BECAUSE THEY KNEW IT WOULD BANKRUPT THE MASS TRANSIT SYSTEM IN AUSTIN BUT THE USUAL POLITICAL DIRTY DEALINGS FROM THE BACKROOM GOT A COMMUTER RAIL PROJECT APPROVED ANYWAY BUT IT HAS ISSUES. NOW THE MASS TRANSIT IS HUGELY IN DEBT AS PREDICTED BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO MAKE THE TRAIN SAFT!
"The money will be spent when we have it to spend and it will be
spread out over a long period of time," Leffingwell said.
Leffingwell also brings up the possibility of paying for some of the infrastructure through a transportation only 2011 bond package that he wants to put before voters.
AND WILL MANAGE TO SNEAK ANOTHER ONE PAST THE SHEEPLE OF AUSTIN WHO CAN BARELY MANAGE TO PAY THE TAXES NOW!

Cyclist we talked think it's about time the city started seriously talking about spending money on the city's bicycle infrastructure.
"It's been needed for years and it's good to see that the city is finally moving in the right direction and making it safer for bicyclist on the streets," cyclist, Brent Thompson said.

WHAT ABOUT THIS CHRIS RILEY?
Born and Raised in Austin
Chris Riley was born and raised in Austin, Texas, the son of Peter and Eva Riley, who still live in his childhood home. Chris attended Austin High School and served as a Congressional Page for Congressman J.J. Jake Pickle. Chris graduated from Harvard University with a major in Economics. He earned his JD from the University of Texas School of Law and served as an attorney for the Texas Supreme Court for five years. In 1995, Chris entered private practice at The Rusk Law firm, representing victims' families in wrongful-death cases involving negligence and abuse. He has lived in downtown Austin for eighteen years.
Chris has served Austin for over a decade, working to ensure that citizens are represented in major decisions impacting the city. He chaired the Downtown Commission and the Planning Commission, and co-founded the Alliance for Public Transit and Austin CarShare. In 1997, Chris founded the Downtown Austin Neighborhood Association when he realized there was no group addressing issues faced by downtown residents. Chris believes that a diverse residential presence downtown contributes to the character and security of the city. Chris has played a prominent role in many additional civic organizations, which are listed in his record of service.
As a board member of the Austin Parks Foundation, Chris started a program for citizens to play giant chess in Wooldridge Park on Saturdays. Living only one block from the park, Chris saw it fall into disuse and disrepair. When picking up the trash wasn't enough, he decided to create an activity that would bring renewed life to the historic space. A life-long chess player, Chris raised private funds to purchase a set for Austin. The Saturday morning program has re-engaged citizens in the park, and created a way for diverse groups to interact in ways they never would otherwise.
Chris lives in downtown Austin in a home built in 1890, which he restored in 2002 to its original historical character. While completing the project, he hired only small, local businesses specializing in green building to return the building to residential use. When completed, it was Austin's first four-star green residential remodel, and improved green-building standards in the city. As an avid bicyclist and founder of Austin CarShare, Chris no longer owns a car, reaffirming his commitment to improving public transit and transportation options in Austin. Chris enjoys sharing weekly Sunday brunches with his partner of ten years, Denise Brady, a lawyer and coordinator of early childhood programs for the State of Texas.
