City of Garland, TX Lyle Jenkins Duck Creek Project - Erosion Control Garland, Texas

In around 2003 the city if Garland, TX decided to the Duck Creek draining project. The people like me whao had no say in what the city does have to suffer the consequences of their actions. The small tributary to the duck creek behind my home has been adversely affected. It used to be a peaceful small creek that you could walk all the way down to and jump across.

Now, 10 years later I and my closes neighbors have lost hundreds of square feet of our yards. There is no stopping the creek anymore. The city dug real deep and put a pipe down the center of the creek. In doing so, they took no erosion precautions. Our back yards are eroding at an average of two feet per year.

I just lost a tree - a large tree that was the only thing holding my yard together. So I called the City of Garland Engineering to come and look at the damage and to try to get some help. Lyle came out and said he would have to e-mail his superiors about the problem. He even mention the Duck Creek project to me without me asking. We agreed to get an estimate to do the repairs and he left. Four days later I called him to see what he found out and he told me that by ordinance I would have to pay half of the cost. An he never even ordered the estimate to be done.

IN 2006 we brought the problem to the attention of the City Engineer at that time and he would not do anything about the problem. 6 Years later - I am missing 500-600 square feet of property with nothing holding the remaining property together.

The city of Garland only cares about themselves - they put the Citizens last. They cause problems and tell us as citizens that we can't fix it ourselves without their approval, and they won't fix it unless we pay. If there is anybody else in the city that has experiences the erosion please get a note to me or give me your number.

The city of Garland will not do anything to help us save ourselves from them and their terrible decisions.

O and by the way - The stretch from west garland to right past the city is one of the top 10 most dangerous creek in north Texas. And the city of Garland is to blame!

If anybody will join with me in this fight I will take it all the way, the more the better.
