We had just moved into our new home and were looking for a new internet provider. Clear seemed like a cheaper alternative to some of the major providers in our area. I contacted them and they verified that good coverage was available in our area. When you sign up they require you to sign a 24 month agreement. They sent me the device within a few days and I attempted to set it up. I was never able to get a strong signal anywhere in my home. Also, the wifi feature on the device never seemed to work properly. I called tech support the first day I got it and they were no help at all. They didn't seem to know what the problem was and finally concluded that one of the towers in my area must be down. Although they never confirmed for sure that was indeed the problem. I continued to use the service for a couple more weeks, but never had good results. The service was down much more than it was actually working. I was very unhappy with the service and the help I had received from tech support. I decided it was no longer worth my time and decided to swich to AT&T uverse which has been wonderful. It has never been down, they sent a technician out to the house to set it up free of charge, and the monthly bill is no more than I was paying for clear. When I contacted Clear to cancel my service they were rude and unhelpful. First off you can barely understand anything the representatives are saying as they speak very poor English. Second they tried everything they could do to keep me from cancelling. I had already made up my mind that I did not want the service so all they did was irritate me by not moving forward with processing my request. Finally, the girl agreed to hibernate my account. She told me this would be more cost effective then outright canceling because I had not completed enough time in my service agreement. I agreed to this because she told me that it would not charge my account and that I could call back in 3 months and cancel and the fee for canceling would be less. So I called back in 3 months to cancel and was once again met with rude workers practically refusing to cancel my account. I don't like to be rude to these people because I know they are only doing what the company is instructing them to do, but I finally had to raise my voice at the girl and be rude myself before she would finally process my request. She informed me that it would be a $97 cancellation fee which outraged me! The whole reason I didn't cancel 3 months prior was to avoid this large fee. When I questioned her about this she didn't know what I was talking about. I told her that the previous girl had told me it would be half of that if I canceled at this time as opposed to three months prior. Finally, I was so fed up that I just agreed to pay the fee in order to be rid of them! I would not recommend this service to anyone! They are a major rip off!! There are much better services available for the same price or less!!
