While looking through the Sunday paper in early July, I came across an adverisement for socks in one of the Valassis Communications, Inc. coupon inserts. The socks looked like a good buy, so I placed an order for 4 pair at $9.95 a pair. With shipping added, the order came out to a total of $43.55. That amount was charged to my credit card within 6 hours, so I expected that I would quickly receive my order... HOW WRONG I WAS!!!

After a month, I began calling the company. The first 10 or so times, the toll free number was busy. I eventuall got through to someone with a French accent, and she told me that the socks were on "backorder". She said that they would be shipped out within 2 weeks. I waited the 2 weeks, and still, no socks. I called again, and after the same B.S., I got through to what sounded like the same person.

This time the woman told me that the socks were "sold out", and I would have to wait 6 more weeks until they were back in stock. At this time I told the woman to cancel my order and refund my money. WOULD YOU BELIEVE THAT THIS WOMAN TOLD ME THAT I COULDN'T CANCEL MY ORDER? I told her that she had better cancel my order, at which time she hung up the phone on me!

I called my credit card issuer (American Express) and instituted a billing dispute. I was told by the customer service representative that this company was the subject of many billing disputes. After about 3 weeks, the amount charged by this scummy company was put back into my account.

I learned a valuable lesson from this episode: Don't do business with companies operating out of border town post office boxes, and don't buy anything offered in Valassis Communications, Inc. sunday newspaper coupon inserts, as this company knowingly does business with Canadian mail order thieves using Upstate New York border town Post Office Box to ripoff unsuspecting suckers!!

First off, no one mentioned diabetic socks. Did you get that from their actually "order"?

And yes, the complaint is that you do not sell in the US-the consumer has to actually receive product for it to be considered a "sale". Up to this point, it is merely a scam.

If this indeed is not your company ripping these people off, then your complaint is with the people that are perpetrating this scheme. The consumer has to go with what they have in front of them.

The bottom line is that we at clearpoint are not in the business of ripping off consumers. We do take customer service seriously and do not scam anyone. This "Robert Dube" character is a LIAR!!!

First of all, ClearPoint Direct is not located in Champlain, New York (also known as "Scamplain" because of the large number of Canadian scammers who set up shop at mail drops and P.O. Boxes in this upstate New York Canadian border town).

ClearPoint Direct is a CANADIAN company which is physically located in the Canadian province of Quebec. Their only connection to Champlain, New York is the post office box which they maintain for mailing purposes. Ameican customers are much more likely to place an order with a company located in the United States than in Canada.

Secondly, this "Robert Dube" character sounds like an over defensive con artist who is trying to defend his crooked company from the large number of Rip Off Reports that have been filed.

Is the name "Dube" actually a distortion of the word "rube", which means "the victim of a con artist"?

Like or not "Mr. Dube", your company has been reported to the Rip Off Report DOZENS of times... Is everyone wrong about your company? I THINK NOT!!!

My suggestion to you is to stop ripping people off and quit using P.O. Boxes and maildrops in upstate New York border towns. Use your actual Canadian boiler room address!!! See how many fools you can get to send their orders to you then!!!
