I would like to warn anyone with, or without an account with Clear Wireless (Clear.com) you should stay as far away from them as you can.
My story goes like this, I don't usually take the time to file reports like this but this company had me so angry by their blatant lying that I could not let it rest without some type of action. Right now its about protecting consumers.
My friend is a Russian lady. She speaks about 65% English. Enough to communicate on the phone and understand people. She called me and asked for assistance to handle the canceling of her Clear Wireless account.
I asked why? What is happening?
She informed me that she needed to cancel her account because she got a better rate with comcast. So when she called clear.com to request a cancellation, it took 45 minutes of being on hold with some annoying music, shifting to "other" departments until she got to this so called cancellation department. [continued below]....
They gave her a cancellation number. She wrote it down. The lady, her name was Andrea said, no problem. Your service has been canceled. Instructions also we're provided that a box would come in the mail to send the modem back. That never came!
The next month she was billed again.
She called to find out why? Same thing, 45 minutes to an hour of being on hold. When she got to the cancellation department the person said that she had been using the modem and charges we're being recorded.
FALSE. This modem was unplugged and waiting to be mailed.
My friend was already using the comcast internet service.
Once again they said her account had been canceled. Confirmation number was provided AND she would be sent a refund for the charges.
Next month ... Charged again!
She called and asked why they charged her? They said this time that the call with her was disconnected and they need her to be on the phone to confirm the cancelation.
FALSE! Can you imagine this?
This is when my poor friend called me. I waited myself 45 minutes to an hour to finally speak with 4 separate people until I got a so called supervisor.
I kid you not, she absolutely refused to cancel my friends account. She said there are usage charges from the modem and they needed to be paid. (My friend had to cancel her Credit Card at the Bank. Do you know what a pain that is?
I would like to warn people about this too. At all costs, don't allow people access to your bank. DO pay pal, send a check in the mail, what ever but organized frauds will take advantage of you with this type of system in place. They are counting on your laziness of paying the bill with an auto debit system to prey on you.
Finally I told this person on the phone, I am a busy guy. I work for a living. I don't have time to haggle with you on the phone about this. If you will not resolve the matter and refund my friend her money back, then we will seek legal action against your company. This is where the call ended.
I want to contact the consumer protection agency plus my attorney for my friend to get them to stop their illegal practices. There ar plenty of complaints here on rippoff report to go after them. Anyone else that is interested we should make a statement. The company really upset my friend and she can't afford to loose the money.
