I am glad I checked out Clickbank on this website before I set up an account with them. Too many people buy first and check later when it's too late and they have already lost their money. I did it the other way around.

I was trying to get a website setup to sell online. The online website provider suggested I sign up with ClickBank to receive my money from the sales on my website as that was the only processing center they used.

The ClickBank account costs $49.95 to set up. That's a red flag right there. I thought, "Why should anyone have to pay to set up a payment processing account? Paypal offers free account set up and has a bonafide creditable reputation for doing business honestly." I decided to check it out.

When I came here to the Rip Off Report page, I saw all of these bad stories about people who had lost money with ClickBank and I decided not to set up an account with ClickBank and probably saved myself a big headache and saved my money too!

Thanks Rip Off Reort!!!

Don't give Clickbank a bad rep they don't deserve

AUTHOR: Pete M - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Firstly, I do not work for or have any interest in Clickbank.  But I have read a lot of the reports from people who think they got "ripped-off" by them and invariably, they did not understand what Clickbank is or what they do.

I have bought things through websites that used Clickbank as their processor several times and have gotten refunds 3 or 4 times from clickbank.  Each time, the money was refunded into my paypal account within 2 business days.  Each refund was also "no-questions asked" as long as it was requested within 60 days.  Though it might be conceivable that they could somehow steal a seller's commission, I don't see how Clickbank could possibly rip off a buyer whose purchase was processed through them.

Any "rip-off" of a buyer is perpetrated by the website you bought from, not Clickbank.

As for their 49.95 fee, I don' know about that as I do not have a "seller" account there.  It is certainly not a "red flag" like you state.  They are not in business for free and they provide sellers with a ton of market exposure that Paypal does not.  They also handle refund processing services for online sellers' products.  Do you think it would be free to set up a merchant account with Visa or Mastercard?  Any payment processing service is going to cost you money.  Most are far more than $49.95.

There is no free lunch, including Paypal.  They take their fees in the form of a percentage of every dollar they process for a seller.   Paypal is free to set up but it is never free again after that.   As a premier, verified paypal member, I have sold things on ebay through them and I can tell you that they have gotten far more than $50 from me in the form of a fee on every single transaction.

Take a look how much you have paid Paypal since you wrote this complaint some 8 months ago.  If you have had any sales at all, I can almost guarantee it's more than $50.

Not to slam paypal too hard, but the web is chock full of nightmare stories about paypal withholding payments from sellers for no reason, debiting their bank accounts, and refunding money to fraudulent buyers.  There are entire websites devoted to internet sellers with horror stories about paypal.  Your implication that they have a sterling reputation is unwarranted.  Had you done as much research on them as you had on Clickbank, and had you understood the nature of the complaints against them better than you understood the complaints about Clickbank, you would not have made such a claim.
