I opened up in 2005 a $500 credit limit with Clout Visa. It was my first credit card. Well I paid them off my balance and they disappeared. Luckily I got them to send me a letter stating that I had a zero balance on the account and it was closed. Since I closed and paid off the account in 2006 I have received 8 different debt collectors harrasssing me now stating I owe 5000 + dollars which is absurd considering i paid off the account and only had a 500 dollar limit and they dont exist anymore so how can I still be charging and gaining fees on money that has never been owed.
So everytime a debt collector calls me I send them my papers they close their account and then I get a different debt collector a year later like clockwork. How do I get this to stop? The credit card is not on my credit report I obviously dont owe any money and I have paperwork stating im cleared.
The debt collectors will not give me information on how to contact the company who is even putting it into the debt collectors hands. its frustrating. 8 years of dealing with this crap is why I hate the way credit card companies work and why I dont want one anymore.
What do I do? This is never going to end!
