College Chefs Online is a small business that hires mostly cooks (then calls them chefs) to run fraternities and sorority kitchens as a "private chef." They charge the frat house/sorority and or their parents a lump sum, a very large amount of money, per semester to provide their "services." They have an online site that's very ambiguous, where you can "choose" your meal plan, snack options by level of service. Most frat houses eat pizza and subway, so it seems like a dream come true.

Until you find out the numbers. (which they hide, of course.)

The chefs are given a budget that is near impossible to feed dogs with, let alone people. Then they are paid less than half what they should, with no benefits. The food quality sucks because of these limitations. The houses tend to be filthy, as there is often no help in cleaning. The chefs work extremely hard, but the food is just adequate. As long as there are no complaints, the numbers stay the same. If there are complaints, the numbers magically go up. Go figure. Our house DID NOT get what we were promised, and we spoke to another house on the plan on campus, and it was the same. They loved their chef (we see them every day!) but had "icky" feelings from the upper managers and were surprised at what level of food they got for the high cost they paid.

I know a house that paid 80,000 for a semester of their "services." We found out that only around $36,000 of that money went to the chef and our food. Where did the rest go? (our chef was paid less than $18,000 for almost a year of work- and we know he worked 45-50 hours a week, often- we found paystubs.) I get that businesses have overhead and need to make a profit, but that's not a profit, that's profiteering. It's clearly in the "rip off hard working cooks, kids and their parents" line. I really didn't like the managers either- not professional, especially the one I talked to on the top. The whole company seethes of lies and deceit, and the numbers just don't add up. It seems that the owner and upper management just robs everyone below, customer and worker, much like an MLM scam, or the Mafia.

STAY AWAY! I hope they are exposed, and fast.
