This company claims to give convenience to users of their Comchek e-cash card which is issued by an employer who uses their services to deposit either a payroll check or expense reimbursement into their account and the employee can withdraw his/her money at an atm machine via the e-cash card or by writing a draft (check) from the supplied drafts and then cashing or depositing the draft into his/her own bank account.

What Comdata doesn't elude to is that after the first transaction, there are fees involved in obtaining your own money. These fees vary according to the agreement with the employer and Comdata Corporation.
This is a big rip off and scam to everyone who is forced by their employer to use this system to get access to their payroll and/or expense reimbursement. There must be some kick back of fees to the employer by Comdata, otherwise, what benefit would the employer have to use this system. I would like to see the Federal Trade Commission look into this. There must be something illegal about it.

Rebuttal of Comdata Rebuttal

AUTHOR: The Truth - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, June 25, 2014

You failed to answer a very direct and simple question/statement from the original complaint.  Is there a kickback (any money whatsoever) you pay to an employer who forces their employees to use your card?  My son works for American Pools as a lifeguard and he was forced to take this card.  I've read numerous complaints on this web site alone about Comdata Payroll Cards.  Even when issues do get resolved, it takes weeks and sometimes months for low wage employees to get their money refunded.  If this card is so wonderful, then why isn't it optional and forced upon employees?  Why is the cardholder agreement so convoluted?  If so much as a nickel goes missing from my son's account, I'm going to suit the company that employs him and organize his fellow workers to demand that this hideous rip-off service that prays on the uneducated, young and low income earners is not forced upon workers at his job.  Like I said, if this service is so wonderful, then it should be optional.

Comdata Rebuttal

All Employee's with each account we have are required under labor laws to disclose all fee's associated to the cards they are given a form for them to sign agreeing to such fee's.  Comdata provides a convience and a service and that service to employees that currently don't have Bank Accounts and that service does indeed cost money.  As the complaint stated that we offer a free transaction after each payroll load to the employee's account.  Unlike a bank we will offer much more services at no cost and if a card account should fall negative we DO NOT charge overage fee's unlike some Banks that charge $30.00 or more with an additional $8.00 per day.  We have so many different options to allow the employee to recieve their funds without paying any fee's at all.  We do supply each cardholder with checks free of charge and can even send more free of charge), we can also set up a 100% auto deposit to the cardholders bank (free of charge), and we also have ATM's that can be found nationwide that are surcharge free.  If the cardholder has a Mastercard they can even go to a Mastercard Accepted bank and recieve the full amount as a cash advance from a Bank Teller.  We would like to have each of the cardholders know that if they ever have any trouble or frustrations that they contact our Customer Service Dept. which is open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year and is a free service. We currently hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and pride ourselves on providing a useful service.
