Community Aid Thrift Store/ Glenn Chandler Store Advertising itself as one thing, but is Sexually Discriminate and lies about who they represent. Hanover, Pennsylvania

As non-Christian consumer at the Thrift Store in Hanover Pennyslvania I felt compelled to comment strictly on the books that are sold or not sold.  I believe it is completely exceptable to sell books to include all religions, even the one(s) you do not like such as Wicca which is a recognized religion. Let me make clear I am not Wiccan and that is not the basis for my comment. My comment is about freedom of religion and freedom of speech not to be restricted in books.  

I am extremely sorry for the loss of your niece. It is extremely distateful and insensitve for any jokes to be made of her early passing. Also, I hope that if any discrimination took place it is brought to light, dealt with, and never to be repeated again!  I am saddened to hear that mental illness could be an underlying problem, if so,  I sincerely hope he receives the medical treatment they need to become well.  Thank you.

I am at all when I was told this evening about the complaints about the COMMUNITY AID stores.  I thought it was just a rumor. But when I was given this website and read complaints from employees & customers I was just beside myself.  I think that the Local News Channels should be involved and report this situation. The community has a right to now what things are going on at each COMMUNITY AID store.  Each person with a complaint should have a right to be heard.  I also feel that if Mr. Chandler is a good Christian, then he should have no problem in reporting to the community how the money is spent/distributed to help out the community. Over and above the employee paychecks and over head expenses.  I do shop at the Hanover store and I personally have had NO problems with anyone, but have seen and heard for myself other employees talking about hating their job, and giving other customers attitudes if they had a question.  I have found that the Hanover store is clean and in order.  The only thing I personally DO NOT agree with is EVERYTHING IS NON-REFUNDAL even with a receipt and cant NOT be brought back or exchanged after purchasing.

(MY THOUGHTS) ....I was in the store last week and noticed that ALOT of item prices have gone up.  The knock-off purses or real exspensive purse that are held behind the front counter really went up in price.  I looked at a knock-off D&G purse (USED) that I use to be able to purchase for $10 to $15 was $40. IT'S A KNOCK OFF PURSE.  For $40 I could go to any store and purchase a NEW KNOCK OFF PURSE for that price.

IN CONCLUSION:  I really hope and feel that the NEWS should get involved in these complaints and let the public/community know whats going on. If COMMUNITY AID is helping the community, and feel they are an equal opportunity employer then they will have NO problem proving their innocents.

CLUTTERED/UNAPPEALING
I recently visited the Mechanicsburg store and found the shelves to be in disarray and over cluttered. I was uninterested in "digging" in piles of haphazardly tossed (and rather dirty) nic-nacs, glassware and overflowing buckets. Had the items been displayed with a sense of purpose (to draw customers) and eye catching, I would have spent more time and MONEY. Director should have a bit more pride in the display of items for sale and pass this on to his employees. You lost my business.

COMMUNITY AID GIVES NON-PROFITS A BAD NAME
I watched and listened to a manger tell a customer after she took items off the hangers and waited in line for 45 minutes that they would not honor sales to her because she had alot of items and he thought that she was reselling the items she was going to buy. The way he approach this lady made it look like she was stealing and let other customer believe that she was and never stopped other customers from making the comments or correcting the situation. I spoke to the lady to find out that she has a very large family of 10 siblings and between them all they have 31 children ranging from newborn to 16. 6 out of the 10 lost jobs in the past few months. She was buying to "HELP" her family. I am sick that community aid is prejudgeing, stereotyping and discriminating against its own customers. I Thought they were a Christian organization. Why should it matter how much someone buy's who they are, or what they do with it. The customer is paying for it. You are making money on items that were donated to you at no cost to you. This money should be going to a good cause "our neighbors" and its none of your business what a customer does with the items they buy. "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING This type of behavior gives no-profits a bad name and stops people from donating. I agree with Maddie you are hurting more people than you are helping by this type of conduct. Director, you need to listen to your customers and stop acting as if you own the items yourself.

I find that this organization will gladly accept vendor or retailers donations, but discriminates against them buy refusing to honor them with equal treatment of sales. I believe that this practice is unlawful. Business and vendors donate under the belief that they are donating items to a Christian organization that helps the local community. Unknown to them that once they donate they are not allowed to buy items at a discounted rate like the rest of the public. If the community aid feels so strongly about this discriminating policy why not publicly display this policy on their drop boxes, dock doors, on the front door, and on the web site before people donate to them. There logo is "neighbors helping neighbors"...well the last time I looked around my community a big part of my neighbors are business owners. Director of the community aid I would strongly encourage you to change that policy. You are offending more people than you are helping.

You have hired 95 people and fired most of them. Let's see there was Ramone, who was up for his 90 day evaluation. You skated around him while you were on one of your 4 vacations in 6 mos, when you came back, you ignored him, so he got another job, leaving with these words,  Mgr, you care, Asst Mgr, you care, Glenn he no cares about anyone! (He's Spanish)  Now how about Sheena who quit, she was being knit picked daily and you were told about it, but paid no attention.  How about Jason who found out he was having a baby, the Mgr, my wife ask you about more hours, you gave him 3 whole hours, he found another job because he needed more money than 3 hours, Glenn you did a schedule change and as soon as my wife was gone, you fired him. How about Wendy, who you met for one day and didn't spend a minute with, but told my wife to fire her, she was no good. You didn't even give her a chance, You've had one of the biggest employee turn-overs I have ever seen. Let's not leave out Tom, who you were supposed to call his P.O officer, but you didn't did you? He didn't show up for his shift because he didn't want to violate his probation, you had him fired and replaced by that afternoon. If I know just these few stories in 6 mos, how many more don't I know since you have been around for 2 years with these store. Also, don't talk about all the money you gave back, it's called tax write-offs. Who is the guy who in CT who you sell all your bulk ragged out clothes too. Are they going to Chile this month via Conneticut, or what. The Mgr told me that in two months, since she was such a bad employee $148,000.00 for July and $161,000.00 for August, and with the meter on her side she walked no less than 8 miles in a day, her record was 19 miles in one day in your store, is that the day she covered for the big sale, but you only allowed so many employee's to keep the labor cost down. Yea that minimum wage will tear you up when you have one person doing 6 peoples jobs and not being able to go home until after midnight. (supposed to be off at 9) My wife was warned by employee's at the Mechanicsburg store, that "If you let him, he will work you into the ground" Were they lying too. She worked there for two years and she wasn't a disgruntled employee as you call anyone who doen't drink the same Kool-Aidyour drinking.  Glenn there is a big difference between us, you serve the god of this world, we serve the God of Abraham,Issac, and Jacob. If you decide to rebutt all the truths I have just laid out for you, do you think you can do it without putting in an advertisment for your store. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 So when I tell the truth, you just naturally dont believe me! 46 Which of you can truthfully accuse me of sin? And since I am telling you the truth, why dont you believe me? 47 Anyone who belongs to God listens gladly to the words of God. But you dont listen because you dont belong to God. Mr Chandler would not know truth if it hit him like a sledge. He has been flirting with the other side so long he can't tell. Notice, he wants you to come visit the store. Spend some money. I noticed a Help Wanted sing outside, and people are leaving and putting in their notices, as quick as they can.  The same people who were supposed to get 90 day evaluations, still haven't gotten them. 
     This person of whom he speaks isn't disgruntled, it is you who are, because you know that a great percentage of your employee's are scared of you and run for cover when you show up. What happened to the new person you hired to train for GM, they didn't even show. God will not be your witness my backslidden brother, he will be the Judge at the White Throne Judge, and when He ask if you did you take the store that you were put as a steward of, if you encouraged employee's, one in particular to put demonic istruments, (Quijja Boards, Tarot cards) and books on how to conjure up demons and bring forth spirits from the underworld, you will have to say YES. You have hear the words that NO ONE will want to hear,  Mt 7:12 "12 Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." Mt 7:15-23 "15-20"Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don't be impressed with charisma; look for character. Who preachers are is the main thing, not what they say. A genuine leader will never exploit your emotions or your pocketbook. These diseased trees with their bad apples are going to be chopped down and burned.
