Today, while checking my account online, I nearly had a Heart Attack! It's seems that Compass bank likes to show two balances on your account! One balance is what you currently have in your account, and the other, a projected balance, showing your estimated balance at the end of the day! Which means all your debits and nsf charges, etc. Imagine my surprise in realising that my account was negative -$518.55 on my posted balance from incurring over SIX $38 nsf charges with a projected balance of -$746.86 !!!!! Meaning that there was still more money to be deducted, another 228.31 to be exact!!!!! WTF is that all about? That amount roughly comes out to about SIX more nsf charges plus some change! I thought they had a limit of nsf charges that they could place on an individuals account!!! Ahh but wait, my wife and I both are on the account, maybe it's six nsf charges per person on the account per month! Both of our checks are deposited every week, well mine every week, hers every two! And it's just as i read in another report, they pay out the highest debits first and post our deposits, in most cases, two days late! This gives them the highest probability of forcing nsf charges on our account. I want to do something about this, but have no idea where to start. I believe I'm going to be searchiing for another financial institution!

Please do not spend money you do not have and you willl never have this problem. I agree with you the fees are outrageous but this is a corporation with shareholders to worry about and they can charge whatever they want. Lesson Learned read the new account disclosure and understand the funds availability for that particular bank and ask about their fees for being overdrawn and every now and then run by the bank and ask if there have been any changes to the terms of your account which they can change at anytime. Also consider overdraft protection or a savings account. Its like insurance yuo wouldn't drive your car with out it right? so why would you not insure your money with some savings or OD protection?
