My son opened an acount with Compass Bank in Austin. It was his first account anywhere. Apparently he had an overdraft of under $7.00. He was not notified until 8 days later, allowing the bank to charge $38 plus $7 per day.

He called and was told "that's the way we do business". When he asked to speak to the manager, he was put on hold and then hung up on.

I called later in the day and was told the manager was "with a customer". The manager never called back. One more day means more money in their pocket.

My son's credit is worth more than a few dollars, so I wired him the cash to take care of the situation and close out his account. I recommend to anyone to stay away from Compass Bank. They seem to have no concern with customers that are having trouble making ends meet.

He would have known that he overdrafted by his own register. But then again, does he even use one? Either way, he never had the money as you had to bail him out. None of that has anything to do with the bank doing what they do.

"My son's credit is worth more than a few dollars"

Yet neither of you think it's worth using the free register he got with the account. Or, if he does use one, then he doesn't care at all regardless.
