first of all let me say ive been with this bank for over 9 yrs,so you ask why are you still with them?well im into my overdraft nearly $2000.untill i get that payed up i cant go anywhere else,im self employed and require an account to be able to cash various checks.all i can say is ditto for everything ive read on here concerning nsf and other misc charges.the only thing this bank doesnt charge you for is a cover charge when you walk in the front door but im sure that will soon change.this was the first bank i know of that charged you a $5.00 fee to cash a check on their bank from someone else.what a crock of crap!can you imagine for instance, writing your granddaughter a $50.00 check for a gift, having them go to your bank to cash it and having them slapped with a fee for not having an account there.what i want to know is how come the SEC,securities and exchange commision hasnt been regulating banks all this time, isnt that part of their job?what a bunch of bums!we need to clean house like they did with the fcc a few years ago for not doing their job!banks get in their closed door meetings and come up with new ways to screw hard working americans and believe me their all working together!all i know to do is get my account paid up and close it out and find a small local bank or credit union thats hopefully only half as crooked. p.s. before chloe or anonymous 0364 post your $.02 rebuttal ,i already know theres nothing i can do,i do know that if you two bums work for a bank ,where the hells your conscience?it would kill me to see people getting scammed out of money all day long!all i can hope is that theses scumbags are getting reamed right now on this economy and loan/housing crisis.gee i guess you can find positive things in even the worst situations

#1 Consumer Suggestion

The SEC doesn't govern bank practices.

AUTHOR: J G Shrugged - (U.S.A.)

That is usually handled by the Federal Reserve, and most of the fees have been accepted as legal by them. Heck even the debit/credit posting first and the largest-first processing is considered legal!

But think about this for a moment: Would you work for free? Because that is basically what a bank would be doing if it cashed a check at the counter for someone who isn't their customer.

If you want full service banking you'll have to pay for it, but customers requested free checking, so the industry complied. My company still pays for banking services, which is partially offset by the deposits/etc we make. But it's a better way to see what exactly it really does cost to have a bank account.

Aww, that was certainly nice of you to think of me, considering I haven't posted here in months! Must make a great impression around here. haha.

Well, let's start with conscience, why don't we? Are you implying my conscience should bother me or something because people spend more money than they have? They're the ones who need to worry about their conscience, as they are the ones STEALING from the bank. But, does the bank press charges? Oh, no, they slap them with a few fees. Which brings me to conclude that perhaps the bank fees are simply not high enough. I mean, they are certainly causing lots of whining (which undoubtedly makes for an interesting bed time read), but no actual check book balancing. How high do those fees have to be for you all to bust out your registers?? $50/pop? $100?

Now, I would love to explore your assumption of us "bums". I can't speak for anonymous, but I can judge by your ramblings here that you have never heard of a shift key or one of those dots or squiggly things we refer to as "punctuation". Oh, and if you are so emotional about people being "scammed", then maybe you should teach all your fellow bums a thing or 2 about basic math. Something along the lines of $2 - $3 = NEGATIVE!! FEES!! See? It's easy! Just follow this basic formula EVERY TIME you are shopping, and no more fees!! That's how ya stick it to them 'big bad banks'.

And the best for last. I am so sorry to disappoint your wish for me getting reamed! Fortunately, I do not work with loans, or customers for that matter. But, since we're on that topic, I am also not stupid enough to buy a house I can't afford even though "I am approved!"

As fun as this is, my homework awaits. 'Til next time!
