I was contacted by Luebki, Baker & Associates today saying that I consented to buy magazines for $200.00 in December or 1999. Please note that it is November 23rd, 2007, almost 7 years later. I explained to them that I would NEVER have consented to such a thing. They said that my card was charged for the first payment of $49.95 and that there were 3 other payments due in the same amnount. I asked her for the number to Consolidated Media Serices and she said that she did not have their info. This was interesting because shortly thereafter, she said that she would send my account back to them. Honestly, I do not remember giving them my credit card info. but I did order a magazine package from a company and I was not sure whether or not this was the one. I had only done that once in my life and I think that the company that I got the magazines from was I.M.E. in Clearwater, Fl. They kept sending me stuff saying that I won watches and money. Anyway, I told them that IF it was my debt that I would own up to it and work it out but I know that I wouldn't have gotten the magazines at $200.00. I mean..come on..are the pages laced with gold? What kind of magazines are they? I asked if she had proof of the debt and she told me no and that it "must have been verbal". I need help, please ANYONE contact me with help. I have no money. I am getting married soon and am trying to fix my credit as much as possible. I do not need stuff coming up from 7 years ago. How can I even remember such a thing from so long ago even IF I did make the agreement (keep in mind the 200 bucks that I would NOT spend on magazines)? Is this how they get you? Did they steal my account info or sis I give it to them? How can I find out? They will not give me proof of this "agreement". Please call me, lawyers, media, I don't care. I need answers and help.
Help!! These people are trying to get me!!
