Consumers Survey Research Orgaization Rip Off, Check Scam Toronto, ON MSH 3T9, Other

I received a plain white envelope in the mail that looked like it was done on a home computer. The words "Lest We Forget" were typed at the top next to a canadian stamp. Inside, I found a check for $1986.67 from Farmers & Merchants Bank, Monticello, Fl 32345. I also found a letter from Consumers Survey Research Organization that instructed me to deposit the check and spend it at Walgreens/Walmart $100.00, JC Penny/Sears/Macys $100.00, Amount to send back to Western Union, $1260.00, Wester Union Charges $126.67 and Employee pay $400.00.

In the bottom left of the check it states that it is a cashiers check but here's the kicker that sent me looking up this company. It also states "The Purhase of an indemity bond will be required before any casheirs check of this bank will be replaced or refunded in event it is lost, misplace or stolen"

I got worried about that. So here I am and I'm glad to find out that I wasn't the only one to receive this scam and that I didn't deposit it.
