Three friends and I went to Mexico on vacation. Due to inclement weather, Continental cancelled our return flight home and told us we had to stay in Mexico for 5 additional nights, at our expense.
We had a family emergency and had to get back home, so we purchased tickets with Delta Airlines, who got us home the following day. On our Delta flight, we met two gentlemen who were also scheduled on Continental. Continental cancelled their flight also, however they flew them home on Delta for free.
We asked Continental to reimburse us for our Delta tickets, as they did for the two gentlemen that we met, however they refused to do so. The are discriminating against us and will not give us our money back.
We want justice!

CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CONTINENTAL AIRLINES

I sent my 18 yr old son today 12/04/09 from California to Little Rock to attend a school function is Arkansas. My son was stranded in Houston, Texas "his connecting flight" (Continental hub) "due to weather". My son flight was suppose to arrived in Arkansas 2:55pm it is now 8:30 CST and my son is still at the Airport trying to get on another flight. I have spoke to many Mangers at Continental and I am being told they might have a flight for him tomorrow, however, they will not pay for him to fly with anyone else, they will not pay for a hotel room and they will not give me my money back me if I buy a tickey from another airline. I was also told it was my choice to have my son sleep at the airport because I would not get him a hotel room. The last Mrg I spoke with at Continental was Billy ID # 97 who was rude and could not understand why I was so concerned about my 18 yr old some who has never flown alone. I THINK THIS IS A SCAM AND CONTINENTAL DO THIS ALOT. I THINK CONTINENTAL AIRLINES IS A BIG JOKE AND WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS WILL BE SHUT DOWN! CONTINENTAL HAS THOUGHT UP A CLEVER WAY TO MAKE MORE MONEY FOR THEMSELVES AND/OR OTHER SISTER COMPANIES...I WELCOME A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CONTINENTAL AND I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND BBB...PLEASE TAKE THE TIME OUT TO DO IT AND NEVER FLY CONTINENTAL AGAIN!

I'm a Platinum Elite with Continental and totally understand your frustration with this occurence but not the way you carried yourself.
First off, i'd like to say that Continental Airlines does not cancel flights unless its due to a mechanical reason and of their own (Continental Airlines) fault. Theres a department called "Air Traffic Control" who controll all airline departures, arrivals, and gate changes. These are the guys you should express your frustration in regards to your cancelled flight caused by bad weather and cancelled for your safety.
Secondly, it seems awkward that you purchased tickets with Delta Airlines and happened to have crossed with 2 other passenger from the same cancelled flight. I don't understand how you'd like Continental to reimburse you the same way Continental did with the two other guys you came across. The other two guys were simply protected and rebooked on that flight and theres no way they'd get reimbursed. You purchased tickets on that Delta flight at your own will and i see how that is not justifiable for a refund. I believe you were not persistant with the airline. Every airline has team leaders, supervisors, and management to help passengers in this situation.

but i doubt it is due to the inclement weather. There are way too many holes in this story. So you are telling us that in FIVE days they could not get you on ONE flight back? Airlines do not control weather, but I think you are leaving way too much out of the real story. I also do not buy the story by the men you just happened to meet and of course their story is exactly like yours only that they got theirs paid? Come on, I smell something fishy.

As someone who knows for a fact that there are daily flights from just about any destination in Mexico, I find it very strange that you were told you would have to stay 5 extra days at your own expense. And as for taking Delta all you would of had to do is go to the ticket counter and they would make every attempt to rebook you on another airline. Your having to pay is for your own tickets is your own fault and should not be refunded by Continental.
Something just doesn't jive with this story.
