Country Choice ,Aged Midwestern Beef, Steak Seafood Chicken Pork Buyer beware. Grandville Michigan

 Hello,

 I filed a similar complaint on another website regarding "Country Choice Steaks", this morning.

 Then I found this site and thought I might better list it here as well, and what problems that was caused in the transaction.

 1st. To clear the air on some of these 'traveling Meat companies' that send salespersons out to attempt to sale their meat,so they can also earn a paycheck.

 Not all of them have had bad quality meat in their sales package that we had dealt with off and one over approximately 20 years of purchasing meat via this method.

 I've purchased meat this way when I lived in Texas,Michigan, and now in Indiana...but this is the 1st time they managed to rip me off!

 The meat is not bad, as to having almost zero fat, but the portions just seemed to be smaller than the box they showed us first to be. Cause the 1st presentation was to sell us both cases, then after my kids came in the front room to see what was going on, they changed the purchase to one case for a pacific reduced price. So far nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but I still had to add in the conversation I could not pay for this until I got my check in, which normally is on the 1st, but this month it falls on March 30th.

 So this was the deal basically came down to and they also wrote it on the reciept as well, that it was to be paid on March 30th,2012 with the check I gave them for the amount they settled on plus $20.00 cash.  

 Now heres where everything went wrong: Since I had no idea they would do this, I didn't check my bank account until the night of the 28th, and that was only cause I had gotten an email notice from my bank that I was overdrafted.

 Whomever put and/or cashed the check it went through my checking account on the 26th of March 2012. And because the bank honored the check although it was being cashed 4 days ahead of the posted date on the check, my bank paid that check made out to them and charged me eight (8) overdraft fees, which was applied to 8 other debits that came through on the same day.

 I've gotten annoyed at this bank before, cause it seems they will pay not as they come in parce, but if there are multible payments, they will pay the large one and then charge overdraft charges to all the smaller amounts that add up to like the amount on the check in this issue.

 So now at 9am i was looking at a overdraft in the amount of $348.01, and I wouldn't have any income until the 30th of March to cover it all.

 This wouldn't be protested probably by someone that has income in excess of $10,000.00 per month, but I'm on SSI-D and i only get "$698.00" per month so every penny has to be accounted for inorder for me to schedule which bills/ie:utility,medical, and personal monthly bills that are always pre-arranged to be drafted from my account on the day my check arrives. And for something like this to happen, puts me in a very large hole financially! I am not ammused at what or why they did it, but it appears they waited a couple days then went into the bank and asked the teller is there enough in this account to cash this check now or not?  So the teller person, looks it up and tells the sales person that has the check, yes there is enough to cover this check today.

And so the check that is clearly written in large print on the date:March 30th,2012. is cashed on March 26th,2012 without a thought 'hmm maybe I should call the account owner and verify that it is ok to pay it prior to the 30th of March?  
Now here's the clincher in all this, my bank changed their policies when they changed names, or so this is the feedback they are giving me today...that they don't recognise any checks that are dated with a specific date on them, all they do is process them.  Which brings to mind, this is not a 'caring bank' as they advertised in the beginning,) And the services I was promised while I had an account with them previous to the take over from another company that changed their name, those polices never existed. At least that is what they are claiming today. I was so annoyed at all of this, until the bank did reimburse me 3 overdraft fees as courtsy* on their part.  But The fact remains the sales people that caused this fiasco has now ruined my creditals with the bank, and so they don't trust me now.  I asked them if I could have their statement in writing as to why they don't honor the date on checks. And why they wouldn't reimburse me on more of the overdraft charges caused to this account because it wasn't my fault. But they acted on the phone like they didn't hear that question and went on to another subject, like goodbye,etc.

 The 2nd time I called them, one of their employees gave me the name of the company and a phone number to reach the meat company at, which after I spoke to that owner/manager he stated that 'countrychoicesteaks is not affilated with countrymeatmarket.  So i have to take his word that he's telling me the truth of the matter, and it still leaves me at a deadend.

The company phone for the Indianapolis location is either disconnected and/or has changed to another 'disconnected number and then onto another disconnected number.'  And then the number from the sales person, is only a voice mail number and 90% of the time I've tried to call them, they never answer it.  It's surprising they ever got any re-orders for their products at this rate!

So I will never purchase meat again from this so-called company, not only cause of this fiasco they caused but cause not all the meat we recieved was the same as the presentation boxes shown.  Con-artists? Liars? Maybe both....I dunno,but they owe me a sizable amount in overdraft charges that I really can't afford to pay out of my check this month.

 I appologise for the rant, but at least now someone might be able to help me get my money back!

On Jan 14/08 is when I bought this meat, and the same night called the numbers on the flyer because seemed a lil shady, especially with no reciept. Today Jan19/08 which is after the 3 day deadline to get in contact for a return, they called. Said I must of cooked it wrong, and they would make it right when i cook it from frozen, which i have, but tried the other way to see if it would taste any better, it doesnt. Claimed they would make it right, although is 3 days after a refund. Guess we will see, but still would not advise to buy this product, is not a good quality of which I am use to. And very difficult to get ahold of.

THEY USED TO BE KNOWN AS STOCKYARD'S CHOICE AND THEN THEY CHANGED THE NAME AND BECAME KNOWN AS CATTLEMAN'S CHOICE AND NOW THEY ARE ALSO KNOWN AS COUNTRY CHOICE AND THEY GOT RID OF THEIR OLD CRAPPED OUT WHITE PICKUP TRUCKS WITH THE MEAT FREEZERS ON THE BACK THAT DIDN'T WORK HALF THE TIME AND NOW THEY HAVE TAXICAB YELLOW-COLORED SMALLER TRUCKS.

IT IS EASY TO GO TO WORK THERE BUT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE THIS JUNK TO MAKE THEIR QUOTAS.

THEY WOULD GET THERE UNDER THE OPEN FORMER GARAGE SPACE FOR THEIR LOUD MOTIVATIONAL MEETINGS AND BACK WHEN THEY WERE CATTLEMAN'S CHOICE, THEY WOULD OCCASIONALLY ADD ALCOHOL AND WHAT RESEMBLED A BURNING HERBAL SUBSTANCE TO THESE EARLY MORNING PEP RALLIES. THEY BROUGHT THE TRUCKS BACK IN RATHER DENTED SHAPE AT TIMES. THE REPS WOULD HIDE THEIR CARS THAT WERE ABOUT TO BE REPOED AND VEHICLES FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY THERE FROM REPS HIDING FROM VARIOUS OBLIGATIONS. THEY BASICALLY WERE PARTY GUYS WHO JUST WANTED TO GET BY AND STAY HIGH.

THE MEAT THEY SOLD HAD BEEN THAWED AND REFROZEN NUMEROUS TIMES. IT WAS PARTIALLY ROTTEN AND IT WAS MAINLY ICE BUT WAS JUST HEAVY ENOUGH FOR THE UNWARY BUYER TO THINK THAT THEY WERE BUYING THAT MUCH WEIGHT IN TENDER, JUICY, MARBLED STEAK PERFECTION. THEY ALSO SOLD SHRIMP AND SEAFOOD WHICH MADE ME WONDER HOW THEY GOT SHRIMP OUR OF CATTLEMAN'S CHOICE AND STOCKYARDS BUT THIS PLACE EXPECTED YOU TO SUSPEND BELIEF.

ONE OF THEIR STAR SALESMEN WOULD TELL PEOPLE ON THE STREET AND CERTAIN RESTAURANTS THAT HE HAD SOME STOLEN MEAT AND HE HAD TO SELL IT FAST BEFORE THE POLICE GOT HIM. THE RESTAURANTS WHERE HE UNLOADED THIS DRECK HAD SUCH A HIGH PERSONNEL TURNOVER THAT THIS SCAM WAS GOOD EVERY MONTH OR SO. HE WORKED THE OTHER SCAM IN ALL SORTS OF NEIGHBORHOODS USUALLY ARRIVING AROUND DINNERTIME WHEN PEOPLE WERE GETTING OFF WORK, HOPEFULLY ON PAYDAY, AND HE LET THE PHOTOS OUTSIDE THE PACKAGE OF WONDERFUL MEAT THAT WAS NOT AT ALL WHAT WAS IN THE PACKAGE SELL THE HUNGRY AND GREEDY PEOPLE ON THE DELIGHTS INSIDE. HE WAS FAR AWAY WHEN THEY FOUND OUT THEY HAD BEEN SCAMMED --ANOTHER REASON THESE GUYS KEPT CHANGING THE NAME OF THEIR COMPANY AND THE TRUCKS AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORKED THERE JUST MOVED ON.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING THERE.
A SECURITY OFFICER WHOSE OFFICE WAS CLOSE BY FOUND OUT HE HAD BOUGHT NOTHING BUT THREE FISH SKELETONS WITH A LITTLE ROTTEN MEAT HANGING FROM THE BONES, A LOT OF HUGE FROZEN ROACHES AND HE AND THE SALESPERSON SETTLED IT LIKE MEN BEHIND A BUILDING AND HE GOT HIS MONEY BACK.
