My husband and I fell upon hard times in June of 2007. As soon as we did we contacted countrywide. They started off by saying that we could catch up the payments in smaller amounts, then they wanted all or nothing. They suggested that we apply for the HOPE program. This is a program that you DON"T SEND in monthly payments, because it will hurt your chances at qualification. Or so they said. It would depend on who you talked to when you called. One would say you better send in a payment, another would say NO don't do that it would kick you out of them looking over your loan. The sale date on our home was Nov. 30, 2007. Come to find out many months later that they did not even sell it until Dec. 13, 2007, which would of given us time to get money somehow. We were never told anything. It took until March to find out who bought the mortgage. Then we have not herd a word from them. I went to the mission of peace a place where they give you information about your loans, and she couldn't believe that they just ripped us off like this. She stated that we fell through the cracks.
Yes I believe we did, because we have lived in our home for 18 years. I have all my documents to prove I did exactly what countrywide asked. If there is anyone else that has been told this by them than we need to hold this company accountable. They have taken my home from me when I was under the impression that I was being responsible and taking care of my problems by contacting my lender. All this time they were lying to my husband and me. Please beware of this program. What ever you do don't believe the part of not sending in payments. This is what they hope for, when a homeowner pleas with them and is at their mercy.
