Countrywide is lying to it's customers and breaking the laws. After many hours of being on hold and transfered, and being hung up on, I finally go through. They told me I was NOT eligible for modification because I was NOT late on my loan payments. I have verified through the website set up by Obama "making home affordable" that You DO NOT have to be late on payments and took the questionair and found out i should be eligible. They flat out lie to you so you won't persue the program. Then they offered me a refinance option, that will cost me $20,000 to them???? the obama plan says the refinance should only cost about $3000. How can countrywide get away with blatantly lying to desperate customers who are eligible for the plan?? Is it not illegal for a company to lie to customers about a government backed plan? I may or may not completely qualifiy for modification, but as far as the prelimary fact go, I do qualify. My loan is backed by fannie mae, I do live in the home, one mortgage, and we had hardship, my husband had severe medical issues and he is the breadwinner for our family. So that alone should be enought for us to at least TRY to get a modification, and countrywide says I need to be LATE on two payments???? where are they getting this stuff? And if I do not qualify, then I do absolutley qualify for the refinance, but why should countrywide make $20,0000 just to refinance?? that is not making my home more affordable? I just do not trust them now, and everything from Obama says contact your lender, well my lender is countrywide and they are looking out for themselves only and not helping me at all. Why are there no advocates for people who are dealing with these monsters??? we need to stand up and sue them. Count me in on any class action suit.

Countrywide has already stated that the Loan Modifications are Commercial Puffery and they have no intention of modifying anyones loans.. It was MSN NEWS months ago - just search on Countrywide
