This note is to express to CozyWinters.com my displeasure for the way you conduct your business, in a total disregard for the benefit and service of the customer. I’ll refer only to facts that I have experienced during the two years or more that I have been using your heating gloves.

I will send a copy of this report to Ripoff Report, and to all US Agencies for the protection of the customer that I’ll be able to reach. The public is entitled to know what may happen to them when they deal with you, as well as what they may expect from the product itself.

I bought a pair of “Battery Heated Gloves with One-Button Controls” from you; they were comfortable and effective. Before 200 hours of use, one of the gloves stopped heating, and was replaced, free, from the seller, under one year warranty.

The replaced glove worked fine for 206 hours approximately and broke down. I contacted CozyWinters for a replacement; they told me that they do not sell individual gloves; if you want a replacement, you must buy the full package again, with new batteries, etc. for $199.00, even if you do not need batteries or recharger, but only one glove.

I concluded that it is not worth buying another pair; I have another set under a different brand, “warmgear;” they are exactly the same: shape, cost, and batteries exclusive for this product, and too expensive ($99.95, that otherwise would cost $20.00). This business is a monopoly: same producer with two different brands.

Gentlemen: you are free to handle your business the way you want, but I’ll try my best to inform the public that your business operates exclusive by your benefit, and not for the benefit and service of the customers. This is a terrible indictment for any business that relies on the good will of the public, and satisfaction of the customers. Indeed, in time you will experience the loss due to your practices.

CozyWinters.com A company where customer's benefit does not count - Update July 23, 2013

Update to Complaint Report on CozyWinters.com, July 13, 2013

A few hours after I faxed my complaint to CozyWinters.com, I received a call from them. They stated that CozyWinters.com does sell individual gloves, although they acknowledge that individual gloves sale is not announced/available in the internet. They offered me the option to buy one glove at a fair price, or a pair; as a courtesy, they made a discount. I accepted the offer, and told them that I’ll publish an update of my complaint in Ripoff Report.com if I’m satisfied. I have not received the product yet, but I know that I’ll be satisfied, because this product is high quality. CozyWinters.com deserves credit for this good action, and I am making this update to my previous report. As with the original complaint we’ll state facts only.

What happened to me is just an isolated case; “A single swallow doesn’t make it summer.” I’ll expect real changes at CozyWinters. I checked the internet page before I placed this update, and I didn’t find any change: individual gloves are not offered, which means that the company’s first interest is to sell full packs for its benefit, and not to place customer’ service and satisfaction first, and sell individual gloves when one fails. I have three e-mails from CozyWinters.com in which they stated that my only alternative was to order a full and expensive pack. This means that the staff had precise directions to benefit the company first, not the customer. Secondly, the price for batteries is still five times their commercial price, and it is a monopoly: you cannot buy them anywhere else. I have a pair of new batteries, unpacked; but when I’ll run out of batteries I’ll resist paying that price, even if I’ll leave two pairs of useless gloves there.

I agree that manufacturers and merchants are entitled to make a profit when they sell their products, but need to be aware that they depend on the customers’ satisfaction for their profit. This dependency that businesses have on customers is the arm that buyers have in the present world of technology to avoid the exploitation from businesses, and they should use it. Buyers should complain when they are treated unfairly; they should do it immediately, and use Ripoff Report among others to publicize their complaints. I stopped a deceiving commercial sale that CNN was broadcasting every hour, in 24 hours; and it was over forever. We must use this means, the internet! Product quality and customer satisfaction is the key for business success. Amazon has been extremely successful because it has a high level of customer satisfaction. This report will be updated at Ripoff Report.
