I placed on online order with Crazy 8 on June 28th. I did this to take advantage of a promotion that they have called "Crazy Cash". When you spend X amount, you are issued a coupon/voucher for X amount to be redeemed.
I received my order 11 days later, on Friday July 9th. This was one day after promotion started, where you could use your coupon/voucher. I went to a local store to go pick up the items I wanted, only to find out that they were already sold out (one day after the promotion started where you could use your crazy cash).
I went home to order what I wanted online. I entered in the numbers coded on the back of the crazy cash, and the computer accepted them, but the amount of the coupon/voucher was not deducted from my total. I figured it would be when I clicked "submit", and my order was actually processed. It wasn't.
I immediately called their customer service number. The associate canceled that first order I placed, and she placed another order for the same items, and the crazy cash went through. She also waived the shipping fee (because the sales associate at the store was actually supposed to offer to let me place a phone order for it at the store, where they waive the shipping, but she did not do this).
Upon getting off the phone with her, I checked my Crazy 8 account online, and I saw that the status of my first order was showing a 'canceled' status. The second order was showing as "in processing".
The next morning, I checked my credit card account. It was apparent that there was a hold on my account for both orders, although the first one was canceled. This was on Saturday, July 10th.
As of Wednesday, July 14th, there was still a hold on my account. I called and spoke with a representative from Crazy 8. She initially tried to blame the hold on my bank/credit card provider. I knew that was false, because I had called my creditor prior to contacting Crazy 8. When I told her this, then she told me that the reason for this hold was that it takes 3-5 business days for the hold to be reversed. She tried to get me out of her hair by telling me to contact my creditor to have them fax something, but that didn't make any sense.
As of today, Friday July 16th, there is still a hold on my credit card account by this company. I called them and asked to speak with a supervisor, but I was not allowed to. I was told that one would call me back. The woman wanted my order number and some "information" about what I wanted. I don't have an order number, since my order was canceled, and I figured they were trying to get as much information out of me in order to inform the supervisor. I gave her my phone number, and I have yet to have heard back from a supervisor. I called 2 hours ago.
I have since contacted my creditor again to confirm that this hold on my account with them has nothing to do with them and that it is beyond their control to release it. I spoke with a supervisor, and she did confirm that they cannot release a hold,and that it has nothing to do with them. She sees nothing showing any cancellation of my online order. What she did say I could do is a 3 way conversation with her, myself, and a supervisor from Crazy 8. I was also told that a business does have a 30 day period to place a hold on someone's account, so Crazy 8 is within their legal statute of limitations.
I feel that their "glitch" in their online system of entering Crazy Cash is a set up, whereby you then have to call your online in through and with customer service, and it allows them to keep your money (for up to 30 days), so that you get charged triple the amount. I was given the run around about the hold on my account, and Crazy 8 is not willing to assist me in releasing the hold on their account. I was told it would take 3-5 business days, but I do not trust that either, as the woman I spoke with from Crazy 8 on Wednesday was dishonest with me.
I will not ever order anything from them online again. I buy plenty from Janie and Jack and Gymboree, Gymboree being their cash cow, and they do not do practice the same way with Gymboree nor Janie and Jack. Although Crazy 8 has not done anything illegal, they are crooked and unethical.
