I am livid at this particular moment. I can not believe what a shady unorganized company this is. My employer of 4 years closed their doors at the beginning of April. I had issues getting my unemployment lined up so i got slightly behind on my car payment. I keep in CONSTANT contact with this company letting them know of every single move that was being made so that payment would be made on my account.
Last month when i paid them, they took TWO payments of $364 each from my bank account overdrawing my account and they refused to refund the second payment so i disputed it with my bank. After i did so, Credit Acceptance then said i owed them a payment from back in November which was completely false and i told them i have all of my bank documentation to prove it. Up until the loss of my job, my account was paid every month on time. No problems.
So amazingly somehow i have a missing payment that they are just now bringing up? Hmmm.... Sounds shady to me.
After beginning to receive my unemployment, the company then tried to dispute my unemployment claim as they had offered me a job much farther away with a substantial pay decrease. It took another two weeks to get the dispute squashed and get my benefits lined back up properly. During this time, Credit Acceptance advised me they were scheduled to disable my vehicle even though they had received my payment not even a month prior. I began to try to find help paying it until i received my check.
Two separate friends of mine, tried to call in and make the payment for me and i would just pay them when i received my check in the mail. Neither of their cards would be accepted. I received my check on Saturday but my bank was already closed, i then went and purchased a Green Dot card (another scandalous business) to try to pay my payment with that. I called the card company and they told me i would be able to do so. I then tried to call in and make the payment and the card was declined. I call the card company and they tell me that they can not do a debit purchase as this is my temporary card.
They then advise me i can take the money back off of the card. I go to the ATM to try that and also it was declined. I then spoke with Credit Acceptance who knew of this type of card and told me that i could use this at Money Gram. I made the trip to go to Money Gram and once again, declined. I called Green Dot again and they advised me that once again, i could not do that either.
I advised Green Dot that i needed the money off of this card immediately that i am running risk of losing my vehicle they basically said i am out of luck and that they can send me a refund or i had to wait for my permanent card to arrive in the mail. They said i should be able to use the card online to pay the payment. Also, declined. After speaking with Credit Acceptance for probably the 8 or 9th time yesterday they advised. The payment of $364 needed to be made by 11pm to secure the vehicle. I then had a friend who paid the payment for me last night before 11pm and low and behold i wake up this morning and my car is GONE.
I called Credit Acceptance this morning and they advised me that now i have to pay $612 dollars now. The payment i SUPPOSEDLY owe them from November and the remainder a repossession fee. These people have done nothing but lie to me and lead me every which way that was wrong. How do i go from having a perfect payment history to losing my car in a matter of TWO months??
Long story short, steer clear of this shady establishment!! I will do everything in my power to make sure that as many people know about this as possible. I have a friend who will be writing an article in the Cincinnati paper to let them know to watch out!!

If everything is as you say it is...you have proven to them the November payment was made then you do some research on the internet RIGHT NOW and get some names and addresses of the top people. You then write a ONE PAGE letter complete with copies of the "proof" such as a letter from the bank and you send it to him or her certified mail, return receipt requested. You include as a final statement something like this: "My hope is this matter will be cleared up soon. If not, I will seek legal assistance to deal with the matters at hand, compensate me for various expenses as well as any deliberate errors placed on my credit reports as the direct result of your poor record keeping. May you be guided accordingly." No need for swearing, name calling etc. Right after you do that you start looking around for an attorney who will handle this with his/her fee being paid by the loan company. The type of attorney you want, pardon the expression, is the biggest asshole you can find. This is not the time for nice guys! If you have a case here, then the attorney should be able to get their fee as part of the settlement. It could be in your jurisdiction you may be able to go after them for any possible expenses you've incurred and if you loose your job then that just adds to the expense! Good luck!!!

I provided documentation from my bank for that payment. As i said, i had never missed or been late on a payment until then. The part which is so shady about it is that they come out of nowhere with this SUPPOSED missed payment last month. I was up to date on every single payment and i have statements to prove it. If i habitually did not pay or had excuses, i could understand but i did not. I kept them in the loop when i was one payment late and it was Paid the night before they repossessed. They told me my car was secure and then took it the very next morning that is ridiculous. Period. Credit Acceptance told me yesterday that it was an error with their automated system and yet now i have to pay over $600 to get my car back. That is my Next payment which IS NOT EVEN DUE YET and a repo fee. Tell me how that makes sense.

There is a difference between a scam and a very bad deal. When it comes to Green Dot, I agree totally with you in that they are fee crazy and very difficult to work with. All the problems you had with Green Dot are simply that...problems with Green Dot. The November payment...I'm curious, what did you do to PROVE to them you made that payment? Just telling them isn't enough...you need to show bank receipt proof or other such documentation you paid it and they accepted payment. However, you seemingly did not provide that proof and as per your posting, they deducted that payment and you did not fight that. If you had absolute proof that payment was made then they would not have deducted it! As far as you not getting paid or receiving benefits, that is none of their business. They could care less...all they want is their money and when due. You are with them because you are a subprime borrower which you became because you have a history of not paying your bills. As such, these guys don't mess around. They've heard all the lies, all the stories and all the excuses. They don't know if you are lying and frankly they don't care. All they want is their money which is what you wanted from them. If you have some absolute proof you made the November payment then you might have a case. Otherwise, this is simply a normal repo process. By the way, before its said. I don't work for them.
