Credit Solution Of America CSA dishonest lied to get my business Internet
Credit solutions representative lied to me to get my business. I was quoted an estimate of approximately $11,000 to settle my debt of approximately $28,000, which was their quoted estimate of 40% of the debt balance. The plan from them was to stop paying my credit card bills and instead set up a savings account. After I have saved enough which was approximately 3 years then I would pay the settlement.
Well, I was obviously scared to stop paying the bill, not only for my credit score but that I would still be charged finance charges, etc. I specifically asked the representative that the quoted estimated 40% would still be based on my beginning debt when I started the program because I knew that the balance would increase drastically without paying it. He reassured me that it would be based on my begining debt balance.
Well, all was well for a matter of 8 months. About the 6th month I came to a point where I decided to apply for a 2nd morgage just to get this taking care of and start improving my credit score and then the mask came off of this bad business.
I got approved for the loan for a couple of thousand more than the estimate because I knew it was an estimate. However, when I contacted credit solutions and let them know that I was ready to settle, their settlement offer was $8,000 over the estimate. I happen to be a math teacher and calculated it to be 70% over the estimate. I contaced credit solutions to complain that it was extremely unreasonable and questioned why it was so high.
I was told that my credit card balance had increased and the settlement percentage was based off of the current balance. This is when I found out that I had been lied to. It has only been 8 months and the settlement was 70% higher than the estimate because my balance had increased due to all the late and finance charges and the settlement percentage jumped to 60% in a matter of 8 months.
I compare it to having someone give you an estimate for fixing something at your house and then coming back and telling you that the actual cost was 70% higher than the estimate. That to me is unreasonable.
What really gets me is that if I followed the plan that was set up for 3 years then my credit balance would have sky rocketted and I still wouldn't have enough to pay the 40% of the current balance. In fact, after the 3 years, the 40% would have been pretty darn close to my credit card balance I had when I started working with credit solutions.
I don't understand how they help anyone or how anyone would be satisfied with them. If I knew that the settlement percentage was based on the current balance then I would have never signed up and they knew that so they lied just to get their sale.
In the end, I had to settle my accound myself and cancel with them after I told them all of my complaints. I would definately not recommend anyone to use credit solutions or any similar company. I have heard that anyone can settle their own accounts.
Sorry for the long winded report but hopefully you can see that the way credit solutions does business is dishonest and does not make sense, especially if you have to save for the entire 3 years. It is very likely that your balance would have doubled and that your settlement will not be any lower than what you owed when your started.
