I have had the WORST experience with these people! I opened an account with them last year in hopes of bettering my credit (even though I was SO against the 75$ fee!) and it has been nothing but HORROR stories since then! I have literally used my card 3-4 times in the year I have had it and have experienced everything under the sun.....

first of all I was charged the 75$ basically up front, which was odd. Then, I was having problems avoiding the 9.95$ payment fee because I was never getting my statements on time so was literally paying at the last minute. THEN the statements stopped coming altogether. I used my card last month and literally, 2 days later, started getting a million calls from their payment center (btw, in INDIA?!) saying I had to pay and my account was overdue. EXCUSE ME?! I was being bothered at work and they refused to let me take care of my payment, again, right after I used the card! AND they were charging me a late fee! I told them I never got a statement, they said it was sent out blah blah blah, and so I just made my payment.....then I received my statement in the mail THE NEXT DAY! So much for sending it out on time!

I tried to let bygones be bygones until this month when I used my card and, what do you know, I AGAIN started getting calls about being past due! And a week after I used my card! This time I NEVER got a statement whatsoever! So I got fed up with having money literally TAKEN from me for no reason with all of these unneccessary charges, let the poor Indian fellow on the other end of the line have it, and paid off my card in full (as I always do) and canceled my card. They are THEIVES!!!!! I can't believe I even dealt with this as long as I did, beware, they are only after making a buck from you!! Last time I felt as if I was negotiating with them to take my phone payment charge off ("we can charge you 5.45 from 9.95...we can charge you 3.50 from 9.95....WHAT?! SERIOUSLY?!?)

PLEASE take my advice and STAY AWAY from Credit One!!!!

I also have a credit one card

  I've had a credit one card for almost a year now.  The first thing I did was get on their website and make a payment towards the fee and to find out when I am due to pay my bill.  There are two ways to pay it by standard payment which is free and express payment which is 9.95.  I use the standard payment because I pay way before the due date.  I have never had any problems with them using the website.  I am pretty happy with Credit One.

If I can understand your description of a supposed ripoff is you claim to have not been receiving statements from them.  Because you have not allegedly received statements from them, you have not made payments or made payments after the due date apparently because you only found out a payment was due when calling them.

A reasonable person would understand a credit card account is paid monthly and that payment is due on a particular date.  A reasonable person would expect to receive a statement of account once per month.  A reasonable person would know there is a way to contact this credit card company as per the toll free number placed on the back of the card.  A reasonable person would call that number to inquire why the statement did not arrive because that person would not want a payment to be late. 

Instead, it looks like, as per your admission, you did not receive the statement and did not bother to check with customer service to inquire as to the status of your account.  You continued to use the card knowing there was some problem with you getting a statement on time. 

NOT receiving a statement is NOT a viable reason to NOT make payments on time.  You always have two other options to check on a payment due date...you check their website or you call the toll free number.  Not being able to understand the English of the CSR is also not an excuse to not make an on-time payment because the website is in plain English.

If I was a judge and you came before me seeking relief in this matter, here is my decision:

"You amply demonstrated to me your ability to read and speak the English language, to use and access various websites via computer and the ability to communicate with the credit card company via their toll free number.  You've also demonstrated to me you have not received statements of account on a regulary scheduled basis however, you did fail to use either the internet or toll free service to determine the status of account without regard to obtaining the written statement.  Therefore my decision is the late charges you incurred are valid.  Not receiving a written statement does not relieve you of the responsibility of proper account management and using other easily available means to determine due dates."
