I received literature from Cross Country Home Services outlining a home protection that covered, heating, airconditioning, electricial, plumming and appliances. I took them for their word and opted to thier services. After the first 30 day trial period I made my first monthly payment of $37.95 or waiting period and made my first claim. I had lost electrical service in half of my home wall outlets. I called placed a claim and was told that an Electrical Contractor would be calling me.
The first contractor was only Heating and Air and informed me that they did not perform electrical work. I returned a call to the claims department and informed them that their assigned company did not perform electrical work of this nature. I was told that they would locate another company and notify me. After two days of waiting I called and was given another contractor that would be calling me.
After two days of waiting I called the Electrical Contractor supplied to me and was informed that this work would not be covered under this warranty and that I was wasting my time. Again, I called the claims department of Cross Country Home Service and informed them of the current situation. The claims department told me that it was difficult to locate a contractor and that they would authorize me to obtain my own Electrician and to pay for the service out of my pocket and that I would be reimbursed by Cross Country Home Service. I felt uncomfortable and asked what would guarentee them reimbursing me and requested that they send me written authroization to go out on my own.
They, Corss Country Home Services said that they could not do that. I informed them that I would wait and for them to locate an electrician and contract the service as outlined in their Warranty Agreement.
Another electrician was notified and made an appointmetn on Wednesday March 19th, and they never showed. On Thursday I contacted the electrician and he said that he would be out on Friday , March 21. Again, no electrician. I called Cross Country Home Services on March 24th and again was informed that I should locate/contact my own electrician. I infromed the representative LeRoy, Not Further Identified, that I desired to cancel my contract and wanted to be refunded the premium payments as they defaulted on their agreement. I was informed that I could cancel but I would not be refuned anything. I was also told that neither party signed any agreement and that it was all verbal. I was informed that if I wanted to cancel then cancel since there is no signed contract but I would not receive any refund. Basically, "Tuff Luck". I also requested a confirmation to my cancellation and I was informed they "Cross Country Home Service" will not do that.
Finally I had to call my mortgage company since the payments were made through them and tell them I would no long include the payments for Cross Country Home Serice protection with my mortgage payment.
