I met what a appeared to be a good landscaping comapny at a large local home show. They pitched me on a project where customers could get up to $2,500 worth of free landscpaing from a grant provided by a non-profit. I was intrigued and allowed them to use my yard as a potential project and they did all the paperwork necessary to submit for the grant money.

We ended up being one of only a few winners picked and I wasvery excited about it. That is when it all really started to fall apart. Cullivour (Tay Farrelly and Larry Taylor) wanted to meet and discuss the project. I agreed and we set-up a meeting. At that meeting I learned that there was going to be an extra fee for the project planning and after a few moments of thought I figured that their time was worth it and agreed to it. Please note that this was NEVER mentioned prior to this meeting - the price quote I initially received from them did not mention this extra fee.

At this meeting I thought it might be nice to also let them bid on some other landscaping projects I had coming up. So, I spent some time walking them through all the projects while they took notes and drew diagrams and walked them throughout the property. They requested a 1/3 payment up front to get started and I agreed and also wrote them a check for that.

Now, we had some rain in our area, but they told me and wrote down an estimated start date for the project of the end of April (the meeting was in mid April) of 2013. I got one message from them on May 6th that they were running behind. Here is part of that email dated Monday May 6, 2013:

Rain continues to push us back on start, but we hope to start taking down Honeysuckles as soon as possible this week. Wednesday's and latter part of week's rain will dictate schedule on your job. 

 I did a follow-up with them at that time to see what was going on and also to get my quotes that never came through for the additional projects. When they asked me questions like, 'how much mulch would you need on your project' I thought to myself, why did I spend half a day walking you through everything and you took notes to then come back and ask me what was needed for the project? I don't know, that is why I was going to hire you, I thought. So, I told them at that time to not bother to provide the extra estimates and I would take care of all the other projects on my own (as they did not seem to care much about them anyway).

 So, flash forward to Monday June 10, 2013 and I still have never heard from Cullivour about my project or a start date. I decided to email them and let them know I am no longer interested in going forward with it and would like a full refund. They proceed to tell me they have plants they bought (and apparently left in planting containers this whole time) and spent time on the plan (if I showed you the plan you would laugh as it is essentially a 15 foot x 15 foot area where they were going to clear some shrubs and plant some new native plants with a water catch - not very complicated, but apparently that takes a lot of time for some).

In closing - I do not expect they will pay back any monies and I think they are a very crummy organization run by very unprofessional people. I would highly recommend that you stay as far away from this company as possible as I would hate for someone to have to go through what I did with them.
