On August 23, 2013 11:30am I had gone with my 12 year old son to Dean Middle school to drop off an official Texas Department of State Health Services affidavit form to the school nurse(Immunization wavier Chapter §97.62 of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC)). When entering the school I was greeted by a lady at a reception desk. I explained why I was there and asked if she could direct me to the nurse's office so I may deliver the document to her.
She then asked me for my driver's license, which I thought odd as I was not operating a motor vehicle at that moment nor was she a law enforcement official. She explained it was for security and ID purposes. I showed her my ID and explained I was the father of the student who was with me. She tried to remove the license from my hand. I asked why she did that and she said she needed to scan it and showed me a scanning mechanism. [continued below]....
I explained I was happy to provide her with my identity information (name and photo) but no other personal information. She stated that I could not enter the school. I asked her if she could simply sign the original form so I may have a record of delivery and leave. She refused to sign anything which I found odd from a tax payers perspective.
I then asked if she could have the nurse come to the front so I may deliver the government issued document to her directly and ask her to sign so that I may have a record of delivery. The lady again refused and she asked if I would like to speak with the Assistant Principle. Thinking this would be a logical minded person, and that we could resolve the matter and leave, I agreed to speak with him. She left, and a few moments later returned with a man who, by all appearances, seemed angry, aggressive, and generally hostile.
He introduced himself as Corey Garcia, assistant principle. I began to explain the situation to him and that Texas law requires this document to be filed with the school. At that point he became loud and my son and I felt threatened by his tone and aggressive postures. He told me "don't come up here stating law because you don't know what you are talking about". (At that point, I fell as though he violated my Constitutional right to free speech granted me under both the U.S Constitution as well as the Texas State Constitution, thus making the matter presentable in both courts of law).
He further stated he was "to busy and I'm not going to stand here and debate you. I'm calling MY police". Seeing that he was being irrational and hostile I simply put the document on the receptionist desk and asked that it be delivered and asked for his information/card.
He complied with my request, gave me his card and I began to leave his office. He continued to make inappropriate comments until we re-entered the reception area. I continued to walk out. Upon re-entered the reception area, over my shoulder, I could hear his voice soften immediately and change as though he wanted those around to believe he was being friendly/helpful.
When my son and I returned to the car my son said he felt scared by the man. I explained I felt humiliated, violated, and bullied. My son asked "what was wrong with that guy"? I couldn't explain why this tax payer paid individual was so irrational and unwilling to aid someone who essentially pays his salary. And why such a simple request as getting a signature to show delivery of an OFFICIAL Texas Department of State Health Services affidavit form, especially since they work for the State (and me), could cause such a hostile response!
My son then informed me that this man, Corey Garcia, assistant principle, has a reputation and frequently bullies the children of the school and gives kids a hard time. I would be very interested in learning more about this person and his practices and any disciplinary records either from the school (not likely),
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES do I want Corey Garcia to communicate with my child in any form or fashion.
As aside note, I'm sure the school is well aware of the dangerous side effects of the immunization injections that are promoted on your school website. However, you fail to inform parents of the potential dangers.
Additionally, your website uses the term "Immunization Requirements" leading most parents and students to believe immunizations are mandatory and safe. This is dangerous, misleading and deceptive to the citizens you serve. As a true patriotic American and one who believes as Thomas Jefferson said "When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty". It is my intention to bring this matter to the public forefront as well as the matter(s) with Mr. Garcia
