DAS Auto Shippers And EBay Purchase Protection Team Caroline Wilson Craigslist / EBay Scam Great Falls, Montana
Shortly after agreeing to purchase, I received an email (and follow-up phone call) from the "shipper" (DAS Auto Company ... 406-564-4340) requesting a bank transfer for the $1600 payment. The email was sent with official looking "eBay Buyer Protection" logos, transaction #, item detail, etc. When I questioned the shipper about using a more standard/safer form of payment such as PayPal, he stated that their PayPal account was temporarily unavailable. I immediately became suspicious and did not transfer any money.
After further research, I found that the "eBay Buyer Protection Transaction ID" (65C4T128L3W89) given to me by the shipper appeared exactly the same on another scam report website dated September 2010. Please beware of this scam and take caution when sellers insist on bank transfer as form of payment.
