The people running it sometimes do not have an answer to serious issues or questions that arise regarding borderline disorder.  Several times they are not prepared when you bring up topics about the homework assignments and the slides they use are not constantly updated.  They run a private group in facebook but it is not that helpful since they cherry pick who they will respond to.  They do have favorite members while other members are completly shut-down/ignored.  The certified therapist that runs it does not give lots of input but has a cold stand and does not have answers that are very related to the topics because she classifies them as “advise” which they vehemely repeat they do not provide.

The peer support leader of the group since she ”was” borderline,  is not able to help on topics that are possibly triggering so this complete defeats the purpose of you inquiring her "peer expertise."  If you share information about DBT or ideas that could be helpful they will use them only to make money themselves by creating a “CCC” course for which you have to pay to discuss certain topics. You can purchase the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Workbook by Matthew McKay, Jeffrey C Wood and Jeffrey Brantley which is what they use in their classes and study yourself.

They do help those who need that extra push to be told what to read.  They do take one question a week about the skills but do not give advice, unless you are lucky and they like you.  The classes online are sometimes overshadow when someone also taking the class decides to talk and they are just concerned with their own lives and rumble around their own issues taking precious time when the instructors could be going in depth with the content of the course.  This happens very often with their favorite students.  The class lasts one hour and a half and when some few students do this they end up rushing through the rest of the content instead of really digging deep on the topics.

It does help if you have never been exposed to dialectical behavior therapy and you are not good at finding information yourself. I highly recommend finding different sources of information and I very in-depth book too is “The Angry Heart Overcoming Borderline and Addictive Behaviors” by Joseph Santoro and Ronald Cohen.  Usually books are a better source since they are written by PHDs who really dig deep, let’s remember these courses are led by a “Peer” and a Master’s Degree holder.  Overall the classes are very helpful for those who are completely lost in their recovery.  For how expensive the classes are, the content, depth, and discussions could be enriched.
