Dottie Phillips at DCCCD/NorthLake College in Irving, Texas told me, my wife, and our children that she had our Financial Aid payment waived until FEBRUARY 13th. Francyne Maynard, Dean of Admissions, called us liars and said that is not what Dottie Phillips said. Francyne was not int he room when these conversations happened, so she has no idea what was said. DCCCD is using Global to help verify Financial AId info, and we have a very rare set of circumstances. We were told that Vitoria Rae in Financial Aid would work with us, and that has not happened. I emailed her every day for over a week with no response. It has been over a month, and they still do not have our cases worked. They have now dropped us from our classes and said that we have to pay if we want to attend class. When this fiasco started we explained that we cannot afford to pay for 6 people to attend college and must have the Financial Aid. If anyone at DCCCD had told us they would be so slow and lazy in processing our Financial Aid, we would have attended another college. it is now too late. My wife has Stage 4 cancer, and all she wants is to be able to attend classes with me and her children! We have an attorney that will bring a case against DCCCD, but we are also going to the media. From surfing the Net, I see where this has been something DCCCD has known as being a glitch for over 6 months. The ousourced company they are using has very limited hours, their reps are rude and unprofessional, and they are stupid. they continue to send emails stating we must upload documents, but there are no longer any links on the site to upload to. Ms. Vitoria Rae has known there are certain documents we do not have, and she had said she would take care of it when we were at the college on january 4th. We never heard anything else about her taking care of it after that date, and it was not taken care of in any shape or form. How can they continue to lie, and what is going on? It sounds shady, and I hope to get a class action lawsuit against the college. If these people are this incompetent, they do not need their jobs. This extra stress is causing my wife more health problems, and the doctors say the stress is making her cancer grow. DCCCD lied, continues to lie, and I would advise anyone and everyone to stay away from this "institution". No wonder they have such a low completion/graduation rate! feel free to contact me to join the class action lawsuit! And my daughter-in-law was offered a temporary scholorship to cover her costs until her Financial Aid kicked in. This was not offered to us. Could it be because my son is Arabic? Or could it be discrimination for some other reason? Why were we not offered the same options as my DIL? I have been trying to contact Mary Ciminelli, as she assured my wife they would assist her, and there has been no response from Ms. Ciminelli either.
