In October 2011, my laptop stopped working. Having just started a minimum wage job I didn't have the funds to cover the cost of a laptop brand new and the only company I knew of doing a pay monthly deal was Dell. Regardless of my hesitations I signed up with them and got a XPS 15Z paying $65 CAN per month.

Straight away I noticed how slow the wireless internet was, especially compared to older laptops (belonging to others) in the house. Stupidly, I put up with it for a few months until I made my first call to Dell. I was told that it was most likely my router causing the issues, I tried to explain that no one else in the house has the same issue. I even used the internet speed test online and compared it to the other laptops, 3 year old laptops had up to 40MPBS where as my brand new one barely made 2MPBS. After explaining this, I was promptly hung up on. I called back and spoke to a different person who proceeded to blame everything else, tell me I was wrong and hang up on me again. Feeling severely frustrated, I didn't call back and instead decided to speak to the computer department at work. Eventually, I gave up trying to fix that issue after multiple calls and each one hung up on (I was not rude or negative to warrant that treatment) so I caved and switched to ethernet cable.

I'm feeling neutral towards my laptop again when a dead pixel appears on my screen one day. Spanning over a month or so, it spreads from a CM to about 3 inches on the right side of my screen. I searched online to find most XPS 15Z's having the exact same issues (one guy sent his away to be serviced only for the new screen to have dead pixels within a week).

This time, I call Dell and explain about all the issues I've been having and that I'm really tired and want to know what they will do about it. Well, of course my warranty has now run out and if I want anything to be fixed I will have to put the money towards it in full. The guy at Dell tells me that he will transfer me to that department and I politely say I will hold. What happens? He hangs up on me! Immediately I call back only for the machine to tell me it is now out of hours and they close at 9PM, it was 8.50PM!

Throughout my warranty I called them with multiple complaints only to be hung up on, treated rudely and have nothing fixed. When they decide to do something about it, it's down to me to foot the bill. I am extremely frustrated and completely stuck in a bind with Dell because if I don't pay my monthly bills it'll end up affecting my credit. Also, now that my warranty is out of date, I'm stuck with the entire bill if I want to fix this piece of junk. At this point, I'm seriously considering ripping apart the laptop and putting the harddrive etc into a different non-Dell shell.

I will never have service with Dell again. They're customer service is downright awful and their equipment is purely image and no substance.
