Good morning, I purchased a 2006 Chevy Uplander from Drive Time Credit Corp in August of 2008. Thie is the second car I have purchased through them. The first being a 2001 Saturn SC2 Coupe. The first loan I had with them was not that bad at all. I realy didnt have too many problems with them, but then again that car was purchased at the Corona,Ca. lot which is no longer there.
When my husband and I decided that I needed a bigger vehicle due to our family growing, we decided to go through Drive Time once again, well that was a HUDGE mistake!!!!! I have had nothing but problems with the Riverside finance department since about two weeks after I bought the van.
When they did the employment verification they found out that I was being laid off before I was, then called me and shared this information with me. I told them that this couldnt be because I had just been at work and was going to work the next day. Well, it did happen. I called them that very next day and asked that they change my payments from every other week to once a month since that was my way of income from that point on. They told me that NO, they were not going to change my payment schedule. The loan was already started with this schedule and nothing could be done till I had the van for 6 months.
I told them that they needed to change the payments, that they knew I was laid off before I was and that would mean that I needed to change the payment dates. Well that got me NO where. So from that point all the way to April 2009, my payments would half the time be late due to the incorrection of the schedule. Some times depending on the month I would be required to make 3 payments.
In April 2009, I ask that they at that time change my payments to once a month due to that is my income source from disability. The lady I spoke to said ok, I will get that taken care of for you. Well she faxed me some defferment papers and had me pay $25 to do everything. I signed the papers in the thoughts that our discussion of the payment change was correct and faxed them back. BOY WAS I EVER WRONG!!!!!
I continued to have the same schedule, they continued to refuse to change the schedule, incurring more and more finance and late fees. This past month I was late on the one payment for 2 wks because of how my money comes in didnt fit their pay schedule. I continued to communicate with Drive Time about the situation. I then recieved a call from their finance department asking me to prove my disability and that I was lying about everything and that I had the money to pay them and was chosing not to.
I explained to them that I would have the money on the 3rd when I get paid like I do every month and can make up the late payment then but that I need them to change the dates as I had been asking since Sept 2008. They told me that they would not do so and that they would not wait till Monday the 3rd to get their payment.
I then recieved yet another call 10 minutes later from yet another finance employee asking me for a payment and I explained to her that I already spoke to some one about this and also emailed yet another employee about this and there is nothing I can do till monday. I was told at that point that there was nothing I can do, I had to pay the payment I was late on, the next two payments plus the 3 that THEY deffered in April, all by 8pm that Thursday night in order to keep my loan open.
I told tyhem that was impossible, they then told me that they would have to come get the car but that if I brought it to them I would save my self $1500 on repo fees that would be added on to the cost of the loan. I laughed at them. I recieved a call the next day asking me to make the payments yet again from a different employee telling me that she was following up on the conversation the prior day to see if I changed my mind and wanted to make my payments. I told her that if she read the notes she would see that there was nothing I could do till MONDAY THE 3RD!!! She then told me that I HAD to drive the car to her. I told her excuse me I have to do what? She said yes, YOU HAVE to drive the car to me, you drove it off my lot you need to drive it to me. I laughed at her and hung up the phone.
And what do you think I got yesterday, yet another phone call asking me to make the 6 payments or they are going to repo my van. I told them that they can come get the d**n thing. I am tired of all the harrasing phone calls, the employees telling me that I need to prove my disability to them, the not willing to work with you and the lies that go on telling you that some thing is done when in fact it hadnt been done.
If anyone out there has any information on how to get ahold of their corporate phone number please let me know. I would like to call them and let them know how their buisness is being run and how their customers are being treated.
