my husband is in jail for a civil matter, not criminal. he has had 2 incidents of assault by the jail guards. the latest one was the worst. my husband has no criminal charges and is not a trouble maker, but believes in telling the truth and standing up for his rights..he was sitting in the day room and requested to speak with a sergeant because the numerous requests he made with the guards had been ignored. the officer started cursing him and calling him names so he just laid his head down on his arms...then the guard kept asking him who's the boss and told him he would beat his a** if he didnt answer...the officer started counting to 10 and my husband raised his head up,  then the guard slammed his head into the table. then put him in a choke hold, then slammed him on the ground face first. the officer then started bending his wrist and arm backwards...to the point that it felt like he would possibly break it. then took him to the elevators and slammed him against the elevator walls. they took him to the nurse and joked about what they had done. this all happened on visitation day.

when i came to visit him later that day they told me they didnt know where he was, he was in the process of transferring...he wasnt there yet...turns out the guards "hid" him on a lock down unit for suicide watch. they kept him there illegally for a full day to hide him from visitors and to keep him from using the phone. he said he had bruises on his body and that his back, neck, and arms are still hurting. they gave him muscle relaxers for his back but refused to do any xrays to check his back. he hurts so bad he couldnt stand to lay down until he got the medicine. how can this be reported without endangering his life? he sent me the grievance he wrote so that i can make copies before he tries to turn it in. i'm afraid for his life and what they will do once he turns in the grievance form. he asked for a sergeant or someone of higher rank and got beat up for it. the first time this happened the guard threatened him verbally, told him what "hood he was from", and punched the wall several times to intimidate him while other guards cheered him on. This time he was actually physically assaulted. And its extremely disturbing that they hid him a whole day. He even witnessed another inmate beaten to a bloody pulp (they had to take him to parkland) and the inmate did not do anything to physically provoke them. HELP!!!!

As a matter of fact

AUTHOR: Ravenslvr - (U.S.A.)

This happens all the time. I have gone so far as to send emails and call various times to Gov Perry since nothign I say affects the DOJ, the county, or Valdez herself. The only way to get this to stop is to go as public as you can. Having worked there for a while, I can warn you that you need to be prepared for the backlash. The county hits back hard. They killed an inmate, Correy Bailey and got away with it. Pepper sprayed him and stuck a plastic bag over his head till he suffocated. All the reports and phones calls I made just fell on deaf ears. No one cares. CID, IA, DOJ, TDOC, all of them do not care. I have logged hundreds of hours and thousands of emails and nothing ever happens. They still get away with it

IF this is true then did you contact Sheriff Valdez? Her office is in charge of the jails.  BUT I think this report is more fiction than non fiction. So what is you husband in jail for?

Robert,

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

I read the ripoff report everyday and have a lot of respect for you and what you have to say, but in fact you can be put in jail over a civil matter.  I am speaking from experience. On 2 different occasions I have been put in jail over child support.  In both cases it was a clerical error and I was released, but not before I spent 22 days in jail.

Before you come back and ask, it was not felony child support. It was just a clerical error, but here in Backwoods USA, sometimes that's all it takes.

Amounts in question.  $12.00 first time, $21.00 second time. Both wrong.

Regards
John

Ummm....

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

As far as I am aware you don't get put in jail for "Civil" matters, so exactly why is you husband in jail.

Here is a question..which one is more likely

A) You were there and saw the entire thing and everything happened EXACTLY as you said.

B) This is a story that you got from your Husband.  Who of course told you the story from an unbiased perspective and EXACTLY how it happened.

C) You got this story from your husband.  But it didn't happen exactly as he said and he left out some "little" details that probably does not have him come off as "good citizen".

Oh and one more guess as to this situation.  This all happened is the one area of the jail that has absolutly no video cameras.  So the guards take advantage of that and beat up inmates at will without any one finding out.
