In the middle of the month of October of 2012 I had problems with an external hard drive on my computer, which was damaged and had a information that i needed. I contacted with Data Retrieval and they told me they could help me. They gave me an address in Miami where i could carry a hard drive and this way they could see or examine the disc and would give me an estimate on how much would the work to get the data.
In October 12, 2012 I delivered the hard drive to that office in Miami and also paid $99.00 to them and in that way they are goint to check the disc in a short period of time. After 5 days of waiting they send an email to me an estimate of $ 1450.00 in which I agreed to paid because I needed that data. I give them the autorization to charge that quantity to my credit card, to get me the data.
Having paid the account several weeks passed and I did not receive any call or e-mail to know when it would receive the data.I called many times and send multiple email without any answers. After several times have called the person in charge of my case (Kevin Smith) answered me with an e-mail that he had personal problems and could not help me at that time.
He explain to me that they are going to put the data in a new external drive and that I would receive a charge of a $ 150.00 extra(additional) from me for the external drive. I said to him that he should not send this external disc since I would send to him my own disc (new) and they would copy the data on this another (new) disc. He agreed.
In October 24, 2012 I sent to Kevin Smith my own new external drive Seagate 3TB, I sent that drive to the Main office in Shaker Heights, Oh. Using a Fedex acc. number and form that Kevin Smith send to me. As soon I send that disk I sent to him an email.
After several calls I made to his office and some emails, with no answers, finally after 14 days November 8, I receved the data in a completely different disk. As soon I recived the disk I email to Kevin Smith and explain to him that I am not going to pay for that disk and that was the reason I sent to him a new disk. He explain to me that the second disk that I sent to him was bad too and they decided to use their own.
I toll him that the first disc (the bad disc) and the second (the replace disk) I need to sent those two disc to the Seagate company because they are in warranty and Seagate give me 25 days to returned or they are goint to charge me $180.00 for each disk, a total of $360.00. After I explain to him what was going on, he toll me that at soon he recive the disc that he send to me he was going to sent my two disc.
In November 20, 2012 I return the Disk (in the Miami office) that Data Retrieval send me on November 8, 2012. After that day I call several time to that company and nobody has returned the call to me. In December 3, 2012 he sent me an email that he was goin to check on that. after 2 days he call me and toll me that the main office the technician have my two disk. But he could not do anything and would try to help me in getting the disks.
After two days pass of that conversation I call Data Retrieval consummer department and I explain to them the problem. They check and they have the two disc and toll me that their goint to send me the disks but their are goint to charge me $60.00 for that. I was agree.
After one week I recived only one disk (a bad disk) a completely different disk that I send, an on that moment I call Data Retieval and try to talk to a supervisor but nobody answered the phone, leave messages on the machine messages and nobody call me back.
Using a complete different phone ( my daughters phone) I call Data Retrieval and at the first ring they answered and I ask for the email and the direct extention number of the supervisor his name is Leo. I left a message in his telephone and also send him and a email with all the detail of the case. He never call me back and return my emails.
After few days using other phone I call him direct to his office and he was sorprise that he was talking to me, he toll me that he was to take care of that personaly. After that he send me and a email saying that he had my new disk in is hand and he going to sent it to me.
After a week I recived and a very, very old disk, very different and a different brand that the one I sent to them. I try to call them back but their not answer, after few days I recived and email from Leo saying that he have my hard drive and for me to recived I need to send the disk they sent to me. I send to them the form that the guy in the Miami office sign for me went I sent that disk back in November 20, 2012 also Kevin Smith send me an a email that he have that disk and also he send me picture.
Data Retrival dont answer my calls, my message, my emails, and in one occasion they closed the phone on me when I was talking. I have with me all the information and picture of the hard drive I sent to them like serial numbers, models numbers, ect,ect. Also the bad disk they sent to me I still have them. All the email from the beggining of the case.
The two external hard drives that I sent to Data Retrieval was ModelSeagate Free Agent Go Flex 3 TB (7200 RPM). The first hard drives, the one got bad was 2 month old, the second I send was a brand new from the box. The one I recived from Leo was a WD 150GB very, very old.
