I contacted datarevtieval.com in August to recover data lost in a Raid array. They were initially very responsive. I received return calls from my inquiry within minutes. Emails were returned within minutes as well.
After paying a large initial fee for analysis I received the report on the recovery required. The damage claimed seamed to be more involved than initially appeared. They indicated that all drives would need to be repaired with donor parts in a clean room, including actuators, drive motors etc. In talking to other repair companies and service experts they were surprised at the findings. The cost for recovery was more than triple what was expected, and almost double what the high range of recovery would be based on initial quotes.
They did agree to lower the price, and it was in line with what other companies I checked with would charge for similar recovery options, though they all questioned the analysis report on what needed to be repaired.
Paid the deposit and was told that it would take 3-4 weeks for recovery. 7 days later I received notification that the data was recovered. They then wanted final payment for me to receive the information. I wired the money $16,000 for the payment and to have the data shipped out next business day. They wanted me to sign without actually viewing anything more than a listing of files that I was satisfied all data was recovered and that my payment was now non-refundable. ( they guarantee that you will not have to pay if they cannot recover your data) I would not sign until I could actually see the files and examine them.
7 days later still no data, and I was told that they were having trouble copying the data to a drive to send to me. I was told that a manager would call me to discuss the form I did not want to sign.
No phone call, email, message or any other response received from the company. I have left more than 1/2 a dozen e-mail messages with my account manager without response for the last almost month. I have left e-mail messages with his manager without response. I have left voice mail messages without any call back after weeks of waiting. I have called and talked to customer service, they have sent me to various voice mail boxes one who is supposed to be the General Manager, and still days later no call back. I have called and asked to speak to anyone in management and I am told there is no one that I can talk to, no one that will speak to me. I was given a promise that the General Manager would call me back in 30 min because he was un-available at the time of my call. 5 hours later still no call back.
I can only conclude that this is not a reputable business. I will be filing with the Better Business Bureau, and the state fraud department, as well as contacting our legal department for redress. I am left with no other options, after having been patient for more than a month.
I highly discourage anyone from using their service. Buyer Beware.
