I dropped off my computer at a local office for a "free estimate."  I began getting calls from different people in the company with different estimates, but all requesting a credit card. They decided it would be $2700 to get the data off my drive, but at one point is was down to $1500.  I just asked when I could come by to pickup my computer.  I was informed it was "shipped elsewhere" and they would be in touch.  I then received received an email stating that my "media would be disposed of in 10 days unless I make arrangements to have it shipped to me."   Essentially they are holding my computer hostage until I pay them. 

Stay away from these internet criminals

We pleasure in offering our customers fine and fast data recovery services and solutions that are priced fairly. True for some cases the services we provide for recovering data looks to be high on account of the degree of the damage in the media. We do offer discounts for deserving customers and also based on promotion of our RBC services. Once a customer registers a case number, that case will be assigened to an account manager, and he'll be the only one who deals with that particular customer throught out the process. So your statement of different people calling with different quotes can never happen. Once the drive has been handed over to us for data recovery, and after that when there is no response from the side of customers towards our calls or emails for many days, we send a notice email to know what their decision is about their media that is with us. 

But still I feel it is my responsibility to make things right if your complaint is genuine. I am not certain of what occurred as far as your case is concerned, but I would be more than happy to discuss with you so as to find if my company has overlooked your case, or you have misconceived our service inadvertently.
