We located our puppy on a very professional appearing web site that represents themselves as breeders of pure bred chihuahuas. Claudia Soto was contacted by phone and after questions were answered regarding this puppy we were interested in, we paid the full price in cash for her. We were assured that her registration papers would be sent to the Soto's then forwarded to us within a month or two. I have been calling them for SEVEN months (since November 2008). I keep getting told by Dave Soto that he will return my call to which he never has, I have to keep calling.
We completed the paperwork and noticed the registration was not included. We requested the registration papers as he was represented as a pure bred chihuahua and were told that they weren't available, but they would be mailed to us.
It has been SEVEN months and we have still not received the paperwork. We have made several e-mail inquiries and spoke to Dave Soto by phone, who was very rude and unprofessional. Any ideas on how to get our paperwork? We are condering a fraud attorney to proceed with a civil fraud lawsuit.

In response to a fellow consumer's suggestion that there may have been some type of miscommunication-that is COMPLETELY FALSE. Before any money was exchanged, both my husband and I stated CLEARLY to BOTH DAVE AND CLAUDIA SOTO, who were sitting at the same table with us, that this female Chihuahua was in fact going to be bred and that we would not pruchase her without the CKC registration. Statement that I would recieve CKC registration paperwork for this Chihuahua was in fact signed by Claudia Soto along with her health records and fee payment reciept.
Just so there is no misunderstanding anything that was said, implied and written in contract.

After filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau and Rip Off Report, I recieved an email rebuttal from the Soto's (or an agent of the Soto's) stating that the paperwork was in process, that I would be updated and mailed the paperwork "within the next few weeks" (being "expected").
As of today, April 22, 2009 I recieved no futher reponses, emails or CKC registration paperwork for the female Chihuahua I purchased in November 2008 from Dave and Caludia Soto aka Chihuahua Dream.
I personally CALLED AND SPOKE TO DAVE SOTO at 6:31pm this evening. I gave him my name and why I was calling, he laughed and said he would "have to check into it". At this time, we will be consulting a fraud attorney as I feel I have attemped every possible way to resove the issue regarding paperwork for the supposedly CKC registered Chihuahua I purchased from them.

First, you should probably be able to register your puppy with CKC yourself if you choose. Second, last time I looked at their site it clearly said they do not give registration papers on puppies purchased as pets. Have you sent them proof of spay or neuter and asked for a registration application? Might be a reasonable solution for both though I can't really say. Did you purchase as a pet or on a breeding contract? Does your contract say you will get papers? No papers does not mean not purebred (but papers don't always mean purebred either :-).
