I have been working with a friend who was taken for $1,685.00 by Davison. He has a great idea and was persuaded to send he initial $685.00. He then sent another $1,000 and signed an agreement to pay an additional $7,700 and give up 10%. He cancelled within the time frame given but has not recieved a refund.
I was concerned about the procedure - getting licensing prior to getting a patent did not seem like the proper sequence of events. I called the office of the Attorney General of the State of Pennsylvania.
I was informed that the litigation regarding Davison was being handled by the FTC. I got information from them via telephone and off their web site. I urge anyone considering involvement with Davison to read the information on the FTC web site. It clearly shows from their investigation that all is not on the up and up.
When my friend mentioned this to Allen at Davison, he was told this had been "cleared up". I discussed this with him as well and he told me they would not still be in business if it was still pending.
I confirmed with the FTC that the litigation was still pending. I then spoke to Allen Rombold and he told me to stay out of it. The contract indicated the company wished to resolve any conflicts directly. Mr. Rombold firmly told me they were not willing to enter into discussion to resolve the conflict, but that the additional $7700 was due and they would litigate to collect. This was after receiving the revocation.
Mr. Rombold then had the unmitigated gall to call and request a letter recinding the revocation so they could "go ahead" with the invention. What a con! If he was in fact correct that the revocation was invalid (he was not correct), why would he need a letter recindng it?
Another letter was sent regarding the refund and requesting any further correspondence be in writing. Mr. Rombold continued to call.
I also found on-line an article in the Pittsburg Review about Davison dashing the hopes of inventors. This article was from January of this year.
