#1 Consumer Suggestion

I agree

I must agree with the previous poster, hotels set an age limit for staying in the rooms, for various reasons.  The guest has to be a legal adult, and most states that is 21 years old.  Also, the hotels are trying to avoid kids staying in hotels and using it to have parties in, when they leave they dont clean up afterwards.  I used to work in a hotel, that did not require an age limit, and that room was out of service for 3 days, and the military young man, was billed for the damage, nights the room was out of order.  While someone will now state that not every under 21 year old damages a room, just like in real life, all it takes is 1 person to break rules and everyone has to pay for it.

Others might even suggest that the under 21 year old, prepay for the room, but at check-in, the guest would still have to present ID, and if needed the credit cards could be reversed and still not allow him to check in.  Best thing to do, is have a parent with the minor, check in, then it is all on the parents to make sure room does not get damaged.

And I also agree, using the "military card" is 1 step too far.  Also, most hotels will not rent to "locals" because of the "partying" that might go on.  Think about it, if they need to stay at hotel, what is wrong with their home?

And I'm sure everyone will agree, that we are grateful for your son's service in the coast guard...pulling out the "military card" is a little much.  Almost EVERY hotel has an age limit...who should the hotel change policy just because your son is in the Coast Guard?  Absolutely ridiculous.
