In Feb of 2004 I placed a deposit on a rare solid chocolate puppy with Four Paws Shih Tzu, Debbie Kitselman. AKA Rondeau, AKA Wagintails.com. She had a 2nd pup like the one i wanted, born a few weeks later. I put a deposit on it as well. At 6 weeks of age I asked for new pictures, I was then told that my puppy had died suddenly.

After corresponding with several others about Four Paws, I was sent a picture of a ladies pup that she got from Four Paws. I compared it with the only pic I was ever sent of my pup, it looked like the exact same pic. Same scene, same toy in the pic, same pose and same markings on the pup.

Then I was told by another that she does this, sales the same pup to 2 different people and then tells one it died and they have to wait for another one. Thus getting 2 deposits on the same pup. When my 2nd pup was 6 weeks she told me it had a badly undershot jaw, she knew I wanted it for breeding purposes, so I told her I would pass.

I heard more story's about Debbies business practices, (such as excuses and promised pups that never arrived, money would be refunded for a pup that died (was not refunded for almost a yr and excuse after excuse), No straight answers to questions, no updated pic's of thier puppies, the list goes on) so I asked for a refund. She told me no refunds which it did state that on her website, but I knew the law stated that if a suitable replacement was not available within a reasonable amount of time then a refund was in order. I informed her of this, she said she asked her attorney and I was right that she would give me a refund.

Well after 5 months I still havent received my refund. I have gotten nothing but excuses why she cant send my money this week. A differnt excuse every week. Another lady and I kept in touch with; She got a pup from Debbie and it died 2 weeks after, so she was promised a refund as well. We exchanged the e-mails we received from Debbie. Here are exact copies of the e-mails that we received in the very same day. We caught her in a lie and confronted her about it.

This is the e-mail i received in the morning.
Donna
This is Tom , Debbie took a turn for the worst and had a stroke yesterday so I spent the entire day with her and did not get to the bank I am writing you because she seems very concerned that I stay in touch with you. I am sorry I did not get to the bank yesterday but will do so this week and she says I need to email you when I send off the new pmt which I will try hard to do. Thanks for being so understanding as we are all concerned for her health at this time and that seems to take up most of my thoughts.

Tom
Here is the e-mail my friend received in the afternoon.
Tom passed away and she is spending time in the valley when she returns I will let her know you emailed. She can then get ahold of you.

Katy

So am I supposed to beleive tom died in the afternoon and she got out of the hospital and took off on a trip the same day?

My friend and I and another person made a 3 way call to Debbie, my friend spoke to her about puppies and asked who she was speaking with. She has been know to say she is not Debbie when confronted by someone who wants thier money back. She said Debbie, so i butted in and asked Debbie where our refunds were and I thought she was in the hospital with a stroke, what happened? I got no reply. I asked if Tom died in the afternoon because he was alive and e-mail me in the morning. No response. A few days later I e-mailed her with my bill. She e-mailed back stating she had sent it out already.

I recieved 2 checks one was post dated. I cashed one it was returned saying it was written on a closed account. I received a replacement check and it bounced. I have now been promised a money order. When I called her and asked where it was, she said she sent it. A week later she said it was returned to her.I told her I wanted my money refunded to me ASAP. She said she sent it 5 days ago, she sent it out registered mail. It doesnt take 5 days for mail to get form Oregan to Ca. So I guess I have been lied to again. After all the lies and excuses I am tired of her games and lies. Her checks have been sent to the DA Check Buster program.

I have now also found out she is shutting down her website for Four Paws Shih Tzu and has opened a new website with all her different breeds on it. It is called www.wagintails.com And you will notice there is no information on the site as to who owns the site. I am an investigator and went through a source to find this information. I wish I would have done a background check before I put in my deposit with her. I know better now. This whole ordeal has been a night mare. I now know why people change thier kennel names all the time and use different last names. Bad breeders give us good breeders a bad name.

AUTHOR: Anthony - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 12, 2004

i bought a shih tzu from gloryridge and karen deangelo. my dog at 2yrs of age was diagnosed with rd. i want karen to advise her clients that she is breeding dogs that could have rd but she does nothing but call me names. I would gladly give up my deposit for a dog with a good kidney. to me it sounds like a blessing this lady did not sell you a dog. My advise is for you to run like hell from this breeder and learn from this bad expierence

Didn't Give Dog Back

AUTHOR: Jenelle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 14, 2004

Before you start accusing people of being heartless, perhaps you should re-read the original message.

"We called the breeder and they agreed to either give us our money back or a new puppy. We decided on the puppy."

That says nothing about giving back the original dog. We kept her AND got the second one.

The reason we agreed to take the second dog instead of a refund is because of the guarantee. Yes, the first one did have bad hips, but the breeders kept up their side of the agreement and offered us a second dog. We figured the same thing wouldn't happen twice, or the breeder would be loosing all kinds of money. Needless to say, we were wrong.

But reguardless, we do have 2 beautiful dogs that we love very much.

I was also a victim of Debbie Rondeau. If you would like to read about my experience, please do a search for Four Paws instead of Fourpaws. You will also see many rebuttals to my report.

you gave the dog back?

AUTHOR: Sally - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 10, 2004

Let me get this straight....you gave your dog back in exchange for a new puppy after 2 years? Didn't you love the dog? You should have gotten your money back, or at least part of it and KEPT the dog. Was that dog just a possession for you? Didn't you love her and become attached to her?

I agree you were ripped off, but I don't understand how heartless people can get rid of a dog after 2 years. I also don't know why you would agree to a new pup after that breeder had already proven their pups are "defective" for breeding purposes.

Many Bad Breeders in the Country

AUTHOR: Jenelle - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 10, 2004

I have never dealt with Debbie, but had a similar thing happen in Western Pennsylvania. We purchased a white female German Sheppard from a breeder in Southern PA. She had her papers and was guaranteed to have good hips for breeding. Large dogs typically have problems with their hips, but they must be at least 2 years old to determine how they have developed.

Needless to say, 2 years later, x-rays showed that our dog had bad hips. We called the breeder and they agreed to either give us our money back or a new puppy. We decided on the puppy. She also came with the same guarantee.

2 more years passed and this dog has the same problems as her older sister. We didn't even bother to contact the breeder again. But we did seem them advertising their "guaranteed" dogs in the paper again a few weeks ago.

You are right, Donna. Bad breeders do give the good ones a bad name. With something as specialized as dog breeding, it's also difficult to pursue the matter legally, too. It's best to do a lot of research ahead of time, but sometimes disasters just can't be avoided.
