Department of Financial Investigation False claims of arrest, case going to court, fraud New York, New York

I received a call today from a company allegedly called the Department of Financial Investigation. The man who called me claimed his name was Officer John Brown. He had a very thick Indian accent and claimed that I had a case being developed against me for fraud. He said that I had taken out a loan and never repayed it so the company is filing against me. The only payday loans or cash advances I have taken out are all paid back or on stringent payment arrangements that come out every two weeks. When I asked him for the company name or more details, he did not want to provide anything and said that he couldn't. He sounded like he was in his house with the TV on. There was some scuffling noises in the background. When I got frustrated and demanded more information or else I'd report the DFI to the BBB, IRS, and FBI, he fumbled a bit before he hung up the phone. DO NOT give any payments or personal information to these people. They just want to know your credit card number or SSN to steal your identity.
