The alarm system NEVER WORKED from the very first day! The alarm kept going off all the time and you could not shut off system from the wireless keypads they installed. Devcon's monitoring station could not even connect into the alarm system check it out. They never got the system to work from the very first day it was installed. After many calls to Devcon without anything being done we finally gave up using it and after a year we replaced it with a great system from our local cable company.
I've noticed that Devcon's Customer Service Reps are posting offers of assistance on these complaint forums. The first line service reps are pretty good people however; they have zero authority to do anything. During my many calls with them, they looked up my account alarm and support records, they saw all of the false alarms one after another and all of the support requests etc. They also noted that the alarm had not been activated in almost a year. Surprisingly, each rep agreed that I was correct and they did not provide any service and they should have handled this better etc. etc. etc.... but guess what? They do not have ANY authority to do anything. On one of my several calls I spent over 2 hours being transferred from one department to another without anyone being able to do anything to make this right.
The supervisors are horrible jerks. On my very last phone call with Devcon I pointed out all of the information above to a supervisor including the fact that their own monitoring station could not connect into the alarm system and that the system had not been activated in almost a year, he actually replied that it was not unusual for people to pay for alarm monitoring service and never activate their systems! Then he doubled down on stupid and blamed ME for not requesting service on the alarm system that NEVER WORKED from the very first day they were there! He didn't have anything to say when I pointed out all of the false alarms right after the system was installed and our followup support calls. In his demented view it was MY responsibility to have them dispatch someone to complete the installation they never finished. Bad enough right? No it gets worse...
COLLECTIONS: Even though Devcon can't get the alarm to work and it's somehow my fault they don't have any problems sending annual invoices out. I told them AGAIN that we were never able to use the system they installed. Instead of offering to fix it they sent my account to their collections group. I was getting non-stop collection robocalls every single morning and evening even on holidays and weekends. I had prepaid my first year of service and I was already out over $400. I got so fed up with dealing with them every day that I gave up and paid out another $800 for the entire 2 years remaining on my contract just to stop getting so upset with them everyday. Remember that we are not using their service, we were never able to use their service. I actually had to pay them the entire contract amount for services they never rendered and will never render just to make them stop harassing my family every morning and evening.
PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF A TON OF AGGRAVATION AND POSSIBLY RISK YOUR SAFETY AND SECURITY - AVOID THESE PEOPLE!
