I recently travel to St Thomas Island on board Royal Caribbean from Orlando living in the UK this was are first ever cruise and trip to the USA. The holiday was all going fantastic until we met the Jewelry rep on board on liner. He talked to us in a meeting with many other holiday makers about the best shop to but Diamonds in the Caribbean. The best store for Diamonds were you would get value for money and not be ripped off!! they recommended DIAMONDS INTERNATIONAL! How wrong was he!
On good faith of such a brand Royal Caribbean we took his advise and bought 2 diamond rings paid over 5,000 US Dollars. The guys at the shop made out they were worth double what we paid and that we had a bargain.
It was only when arriving back to the UK did the hell begin. Only last week I noticed one of the diamonds had fallen out of the ring I tried many times to call Royal Caribbean and Diamonds International to ask for a refund due to the poor quality of the rings and that I was still within my 30 days warranty (I still am!) yet I have spend the last few days being sent email about there terms and conditions with very little help or assistance basically they are telling me I can not have a refund my only option is to send the rings back uninsured I must stress!!!! to be fixed or I can have a store credit!!!! I live in the UK a store credit is no use to me??? Trying to speak to a member of any company is impossible!!
I have also had the rings valued and looked at by a specialist in the UK and they were horrified as the certificates given to me on purchase by Diamonds International are totally incorrect. I have 2 rings that are not the clarity as stated plus not even the color as detailed on the paperwork and to top it all not worth even 2,000 dollars. I have been totally Ripped off by this company! They are now backing me into a corner as they will not accept a valuation from the UK only a full report from there own assures plus that takes 14 days to even reach valuation. I do not know how this company is and has got away with so many fraudulent transactions if they were UK based they would be shut down! It amazes me the very little consumer rights in the USA and I really feel for everyone who has been ripped off by this company like me! I just warn all others do not buy from any of there 150 stores across the USA.
Diamonds International after care service is appalling. My claim is ongoing I am not getting very far at present however I have made a decision today to now proceed with legal action against both Royal Caribbean and Diamonds International for a full refund. My aim is to target every website/Facebook and blog all over the internet about this company warning others! why there is no regulation is beyond me!! A strong letter is also in process from my solicitor to the chief executive of Royal Caribbean with lots of letters supporting against recommending this supplier! of course they ships are all on commission!
It makes me feel sick that such a brand like the cruise ships would tarnish there good name to recommend cowboy rip off stores! Diamonds International is the biggest I have ever come across! Be warned stay clear!!! I will keep you updated on my progress as I feel it may be a long one!
