In 1999 I was walking into the Stoneridge Mall when a white van with two young white males pulled up to me. The driver asked, "Do you want some speakers?" I don't care for salespeople that aren't in stores in walk into, so I said, "No thanks." He said, "How about for free?" Of course this interested me, so he pulled into a parking spot next to me and we talked.

hey told me they had received six extra speakers and they would sell them without their boss noticing. They opened up the back door of the van and showed me some very large speakers. They were boxed up and looked like products from a legitimate company. I had them open one up to make sure it was actually a speaker inside.

They showed me a catalog that indicated the speakers were worth $999 each. I was excited to have the opportunity to get $5994 worth of merchandise for a deal. They asked for $1000 and, being a stupid 16 year old kid, that sounded like a great price.

So we headed to the bank and I withdrew ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I paid them and they gave me the six speakers. They were thrilled to get the money, but they made it sound like I'm the one who got the deal. They gave me a (fake) phone number and said I should call them up and repay them with some beers or treat them to a topless bar.

I took the speakers home and hooked them up. They worked, but they are not that great. They are not worth $1000. There is no way they are worth anything close to $6000.

Three years later I met a guy who went through an incredibly similar experience. We decided it must have been the same couple of guys if not an huge coincidence. But it turns out this scam has been happening all over the nation.

They used to have a website, doggdigitalaudio.com. Now they are at dcssound.com.

This has been going on for many years and nobody has stopped it. They are certainly breaking laws. Why is no law enforcement or government agency trying to stop them? This is sickening.
