I am in need of someones help I purchased a king Henredon bed from Dillards in Mall of the Louisiana Baton Rouge Louisiana for my son. I paid for their delivery service. The delivery guys were young maybe early 20's. They came into my home and carried the furniture upstairs to my sons room and was to my knowledge assemble the bed however they apparently screwed the bolts too tight and broke the frame and side rails and attempted to hide it from me by duck taping it and placing the matress over it.without telling me.

My son came home after a trip to his grandfathers and was so excited. He laid in the bed and it collapsed.I was livid we lifted it and seen the duck tape and I contacted the store manager Donna she said she would investigate and get back with me. I unfortunately had to keep calling her,she never has done anything but give me the run around put me off for months and finallyhad a furniture company come out attempt to fix it twice with no luck. Then I contacted the general manager Mark Gasman he was a real jerk he tried to say it was due to customer use and abuse and pass blame on my children I told him that was incorrect and that if a good quality bed Henredon could fall apart so easily than it shouldn't be retailed $12,000.

He has refused to allow me to get another bed or reimburse me 1/2 the amount I paid my son can't utilize the bed. I attempted to call his regional manager Burt Squires but his secretary Trish Rodger will not allow me to talk to him so it gets forwarded back to Mark Gasman. I would love to contact Alex Dillard and give him the whole truth that their lacking to tell him but he to wan't accept my call. His secretary Barbara Walston said for me to tell her and she would inform him and says he'll reroute it back to the general manager so she apparently dosen't have faith in her own boss in doing the just thing by his customers.

I am very disappointed that I have been so loyal to them as a customer and that they can discredit me and not treat me fair when it is their fault. The real Mr. Dillard died and his sons took over and have slaughtered all that man worked for in having integrity and loyalty etc. I'm willing to take them to court are whatever needs to happen to bring the truth to light! My son has never utilized the bed and has to sleep in his sisters bed and she sleeps with me. He has to go upstairs to get dressed but sleeps downstairs which is very aggravating for him. Please help me make them reimburse me or get another bed frame or return it I'm done with playing the mose in their trap!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

KLK,

What, exactly do I not know? Please explain.

What am I talking about that I do not know of? Exactly?

I know that the OP is an illiterate moron. Any one who says "I seen" is a moron. Anyone who says "embred" is a moron. Etc. Etc

Know what you're talking about before you insult someone.

AUTHOR: KLK - (United States of America)

Yes, it's "duct tape," which is sold under the brand name Duck Tape. I hope my grammar, syntax, etc. is acceptable. Jeez, buddy, lighten up.

Again with the First Premier thing...WOW

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

FYI... I settled the First Premier thing in 3 minutes. I closed the accounts. Done.

As far as being a "moron", at leat I can spell and form an intelligent response. You called me a hillbilly, but your post is full of hillbilly trailer trash slang and mistakes.

So, who really is the "hillbilly"?

The solutions here were so simple, but you couldn't grasp the basics on how to deal with this very simple issue. And you call me the moron.

Don't feed the trolls

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

The best recourse for trolls is to completely ignore them and don't feed their ego by engaging them, that's what they exist for. I would be interested in how this turns out. If they can't fix it they need to replace it.

My thoughts exactly!

AUTHOR: ckinler - (USA)

I have to hand it to you Ronny for addressingSteve's Two reports. I was looking over it and he attacked everyone that had an opinion. It seems Steve has major anger issues. Maybe it's small man syndrome! If he's married he probably has a wife that's dominating and he feels that this is chance to be the dominate one. I think it's hilarious that with my situation he said he would be in their face and already havehandled this situation. Why couldn't he have done the same towards FirstPremier Bank? Ramjet your exactly right this Henredon furniture is crafted well and made of solid wood. IfDillards thought they weren't liable then why did they send a furniture repair company twice. They knew after realizing that it couldn't be repaired that they were up sh*t creek! I'm going to pursue them and bring them to justice. I have done some research and found out the name of their registered agent. I'm sending them a certified letter tomorrow. Ronny I agree with you fully it dosen't matter if I said buck tape or duct tape it's freaking tape. InspectorI guess it's pronounced here in the south as well.Guys thanks for backing me up against the morons!

Thanks,

Your Cajun Friend

How does it matter what animal is the prefix of the tape???

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

..duck, frog, antelope, leopluradon, turtle tape?? It does not make a difference. The report has merit..base it off the facts and not grammar or spelling or typos. Or..just be another troll who has no other use here other then grading elementary school compositions?

Legal solution?

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

I can't imagine trying to blame the kids. I have seen beds in use for generations with lots of kids using them for trampolines and other kinds of abuse without breaking. Bed frames, especially expensive ones are not (or shouldn't be) that fragile. This also does not address the 'duct/duck tape' repair.

I have had beds delivered and installed and if the bed is setup and appears OK I have never pulled up the mattress and box spring to see the frame (perhaps I should).

I rarely recommend legal recourse but you may have no choice. Unfortunate and disappointing.

Exactly Imbred Morons!

AUTHOR: ckinler - (USA)

Thanks for taking the time to post the picture to set the facts straight! I agree with the other posts as well. These individuals have some psychological issues to become so obsessed over the word not being correctly spelled. This same imbred hillbilly spelled EMPLOYYEES wrong you don't see me attacking his english. I learned from my grandfather never wrestle with a pig in the mud, because you both are going to get dirty!!!! These two inbred morons are trying to discredit my claim and detract the needed attention for valuable advice. If it tickles their fancy to pick out my mistakes then so be it. As for all of you other educated individuals thank you and I welcome any of your suggestions as how to proceed. Ps. You asked where did I get inbred hillbillys? The answer is you Steve from bradenton, you started this and if I spelled inbred wrong it's because I don't use this word nor do we have any in-breeding in our family unlike you!

Thank you for taking the time to compliment and point out howimmature these two individuals are. I believe that they have way too much time on their hands. I have done pointed out that these delivery guys were Dillards employees as well as that their all being tight lipped about the names or insurance co. I have dotted my I's and crossed my T's and can be very aggressive! I don't take this shit from anyone especially when it comes to my children. As I told that imbred from Bradenton I inspected to the best of my ability.if you take a car in for repair and you test drive the car& itapears to run so yousign, however youdidn't see till later their was hidden damage. Same scenario you idiot I'm not God! You guys with these rude attacks need to get a life. I'm open to hear valuableadvice or hear if someone has expierenced any problems from this company or been in a similar situation.

Interesting

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

Interestingly enough, there is a brand of duct tape called Duck Tape, it has little duck as a logo. Anyway, it certainly does not warrant a ridiculous attack.

Compared to some of the absolutely undecipherable reports I have seen here, this one is just fine.

To the OP
I would be real upset too. It's real easy to see what you should have done after the fact. Your actions appeared pretty reasonable to me.

What is "embred"?

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

Really? "embred"?? Did you mean "inbred"? FYI...No inbreeding in my family, and no one in my family is a "hillbilly". Where did you get that??

The bottom line here is that YOU failed to PROPERLY inspect your furniture BEFORE signing for it. That is the LEGAL issue here, REGARDLESS of the "reason"?

Then, for being so "intelligent" you really didn't know how to handle this to get a satisfactory resolution in a timely manner.

If you charged the purchase to your Dillards charge, just dispute the charge. Done. Full refund, return the defective/damaged items.

You ASSUMED that the delivery guys were Dillards employees. For being so smart, you don't know the importance of this distinction as to whether or not the delivery crew were employyees of Dillards or independent contractors. MOST major stores use contractors for delivery and set up of furniture and appliances.

It seems like you have more money than sense. This I get from the point you made where you would have accepted half of your money back. That's just plain stupid. I would demand, repair or replacement or full refund. That's it.

I can guarantee you that if I was in that position I would have had this issue resolved inside of a week. That is because I am agressive, and know my legal rights. You have to get in someone's face as soon as they give you the runaround.

The bottom line here is that you are clueless overall. That is the problem. Maybe YOU are the "embred" hillbilly!

I was very offended by the corny comments embred hillbilly, illiterate, etc. I happened to be up 5:00 amwhen I had posted. First you asked if it was contractors that delivered for dilllards. I was told it's dillards own delivery crew. I also wanted to clear up why I wouldn't supervise the delivery and assembling of the furniture. The fact of the matter is I had two different bedroom sets being delivered and assembled in two different rooms one upstairs and one downstairs. I stayed in the downstairs roomsupervising the one guy and the other guy went upstairs and I can't be in two places at once. I should be able to have a professional delivery teamperform their work withintegrity& not be babysitted.Shortly after the guy completed the downstairs the guy went upstairs to assist in the assmbly of the other bedroom set. They came down and asked me to examine the furniture for any marks tears chips etc. I looked over the furniture never lifting the mattress and signed their paper. Then you asked why I asked for half. I asked for half because they said this bed is discontinued and I have the whole matching set and don't want to break it up. The frame was specially made for this bed and so not just any frame would work. I made a mistake saying duck tape it's not a word I usefrequently. Theseguys had no right being deceptive tightening the screws to the point it split the frame and side rails. They tried to cover up their mistake by wrapping duct tape around the boards and placing the mattress over it. I'll send them a certified letter and see ifI get a response, if not I'll hire an attorney!

The real unanswered question is..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

..why did Steve feel the need to attack you so viciously?

This was not a high school book report that required grading..but a legitimate complaint.

You paid good money from a supposedly reputable company and they sent over what you would expect to be professionals to set the furniture up. Instead, the sock monkeys damaged it and then went through measures to hide said damage..surely this is complaint worthy?

As I read the report, I had no problem reading or understanding it. I noticed acceptable sentence structure. I noticed paragraphs. I did not notice any unbearable run on sentences or poor grammar to the degree that required insulting you. And I know plenty of people who think duct tape is "duck" tape..who cares? A couple of typos and spelling errors...wow, how tough is life?

It did not take away any credibility or merit from this report. I imagine if someone had any trouble reading or comprehending this report, they may be on certain mind altering substances. I would imagine if this report upset anyone uninvolved to this degree, they may be in some serious need of counseling/anger management/rehabilitation etc.

I would agree..if they do not take care of this to your satisfaction.. sue their asses. In the worst case you can try small claims court which in most states my limit the amount to $5,000. However, when they receive the legal letterhead they may then know you mean business and offer to settle this with you directly rather then deal with a court date which they know they will lose.

Seems like you just don't know how to handle things

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

After painfully reading your longwinded borderline illiterate post, I have come to the conclusion that you simply do not know how to handle things and do not understand the situation.

The first thing you need to do is verify whether or not those "kids" that did the delivery are actually Dillards EMPLOYEES or if they are CONTRACTORS. This information will determine how you proceed.

If they are contractors, you would have to file a claim with them, against their insurance.

My question is WHY would you not supervise anyone working in your home? Also, why would you spend that kind of money and not inspect the assembly job BEFORE signing for the delivery? That's just plain stupid.

Why would you even consider getting half of your money back? That's just plain stupid.

Did you pay cash or did you put this on a credit card? If you paid on a credit card, you just dispute the charge. Your rights are protected by federal law on this.

If your very first phone call did not rectify the problem, you should have had the common sense to STAY OFF THE PHONE!!

All communications past the first phone call need to be in writing! Sent via CERTIFIED MAIL, RETURN RECIEPT REQUESTED.

And, for that kind of money I would have immediately filed a lawsuit. That would get their attention.

You should also learn how to write so you at least appear intelligent. "Duck" tape? No, it's "Duct" tape. "Seen"? What kind of inbred hillbilly speak is that? We SAW. Sentence run on, etc. Very hard to read. How about a little paragraph use?
