DirecTV and Mastec have used deceptive business practices to gain an unfair business advantage against the very workers providing installation services. These practices include charging companies full retail value for equipment that was installed and activated in customers homes, deducting money from pay with no back up or documentation to support legitimacy, providing forged documents in an attempt to collect money from contractors for equipment not received by contractor. charging for phone lines that were allegedly not connected at time of install with no regard for phone service availability at time of install or customer requests and/or denial of this connection. back charging contractors for faulty equipment that was beyond the control of the contractor (DirecTV of course having full knowledge of the inadequacies of their manufacturers), back charging contractors for problems as a result of customer error, collecting a large percentage of ancillary work fees despite the fact that the contractor provides all of the materials for the installation. refusing to pay out final invoices and numerous other deceptive actions.

Our contract was terminated and we are still owed two full paychecks, they have not payed us claiming we have outstanding damage claims, not giving us details on the alleged damage claims or letting us as an insured company, take care of the claims.

Do not go to work for them! They are constantly trying to rip people off!!!!

About the "good" jobs

AUTHOR: bb - (United States of America)

The office managers give "Service Only" packages to whomever they want - and this is the best skills package to have because a service job can be nothing but a flick of the switch, it may be that the customer forgot to tell DirecTV that the issue was resolved so when the tech gets there, there's no work to do and he may still get paid, etc. I saw workloads for service techs with 10-12 jobs in a day.

New techs get Install Only skill packages and some installs can take 3-4 hours, but they are paid for the job, regardless of how long it takes to do it, oh, and they have to have a "New Tech" schedule when they start out on their own and it is a schedule of up to 6hrs per day, no more than two jobs per day. If there are too many techs and too few jobs, that's too bad cuz all techs are paid a piece-rate. if there's only two jobs for you today, that's all you do, and get paid for, so techs have to open their schedule to 6-7 days per week just to try to get some money.
