DirecTV screwed me when I tried to move Internet
BEWARE OF DirecTV....They will screw you if you try to move.
I signed up for DirecTV back in September when I was still living in my apartment. Now I have moved into a house - where I will not be moving from again anytime soon - and they wanted to charge me a $200 installation fee for the move. Not only that, they make it sound like they are doing you a favor by taking the origianal cost of the fee down from $500 to $200.
I pay them every month for their service and they should transfer it for a reasonable fee... maybe $79 dollars or something but not $200. That is rediculous! Furthermore, that information about the fee is not listed anywhere on the "moving" page on their website. It would be a different story if I was calling in every 2 months to move or something, but I'm not!
Also, when I called in and spoke to the lady at the special "moving" 800 number they have for their customers, I asked her if there was anyone above her who could waive the fee and she gave me some line about "it goes by what your account qualifies for and no one can change what your account qualifies for"... what a bunch of crap! I cancelled my service right away after that. I would rather pay a cancellation fee to leave a company with such schoddy business practices than pay $200 to move their service to my new home.
I will NEVER get DirecTV again and I will make sure to tell everyone that I know about what they did to me.
Don't let this happen to you or anyone you know. Pass on the truth about DirecTV to your family and friends. Copy and paste this story if you want and post it on Facebook or Twitter... they can't treat their customers like that for very long if everyone protests them.
