So me and my wife attended there open house, after a presentation and a 40minute video my salesman told me the price is was $4600 I told him that I would give him a answer within 48hours and he said that is unacceptable i said what are you talking about. he told me once i walked out that door I could never be a member of Direct Buy. I said are you kidding me you want me to write you a check of $4600 today and you wont even give me 48hrs to decide he said NO. What really does direct buy have to hide???
I just dont understand the concept once you say no you cant ever be member. There sales tactics are misleading and pretty much a complete lie.
I usually dont complain about anything but I just dont want other hard working people get caught up in this scam. They never tell you that you have to make decision on the spot and they never tell you the delievery of your products are usually 2 weeks after they orginally tell you. for example if it takes 6-8weeks it wount be theere for at least 10weeks.
I know this is true because I have done my research after the fact and there are thousands of people complaining about this place. I have also read that direct buy charges an additional 8% on top of the price of there product. (consumer complaint)
Please do not fall into the high pressure sales tactics you can get these products just as cheap if you do you research

I understand that but?

I understand 100% where you are coming from but based on the conversation that i had with your husband he expressed how much he loved this company. all I know if I worked for a company that was that un-ethical you better believe that I be finding a new career. I also understand that you have children and it is tough to find a new career when you have house, cars and other payments that are due every month. Like I said in my orginal complaint I am not the kind of person to complain about anything but I believe there was alot of misrepresentation when i was there. The other thing if my conversations with sales are being recorded isnt this illegal and dont I have to be aware of this??? I am sorry if you think I am potraying your husband out to be the bad guy but that night he was the only one that I talked to that represents the company.
I appreciate your rebuttal and i understand where you are coming from and i feel for you and your husband but you also have to realize where i am coming from.
Good Luck
Kris

If you dont watch out you could be in for a lawsuit for slandering him. He is just as much a victim of directbuy as you might consider yourself to be. He is told to do what he does and is not to be held at fault over doing the job as instructed. He has been a victim of the greedy franchise owner for over 3 years now and had we have consistently witness a huge decrease in his salary and a huge increase in mandatory work hours.
It is the owner who is the person in question. She has raised the dues again another $700....so that by the time a person finances membership they are in fact paying upwards of $6K to belong. The locations also charge 8% on the items sold and only 2% of that goes to corporate. The other 6% goes into the owners pocket as does the furniture on the floor she sells but tells corporate was donated to Good Will. I have written documentation from one source and a statement from another that she sold furniture without giving a receipt.. why? Because she doesnt want to report the money and thereby evade paying the tax. This misconduct not only affects the employees, the corporate but also affects the State of NJ and residents. She has also basically put all the employees into the poor house. .. she is living in the lap of luxury, hardly ever works, and has never done one single tour herself since her hostile takeover. She also never closes up her own building at night but seems to be spending money like crazy while everyone else, including my husband is struggling just to pay on a mortgage or rent.
It's a Me-First attitude with this disgusting, pimple faced control freak who calls herself the owner. It's no wonder employees are leaving and following up with lawsuits and wage claims.
They need to tell people that the dues are $6K to join.. but that would defeat the purpose because nobody would join at the prices they now charge. Whereas a few years ago the concept was decent, it has since gotten totally out of hand and that is because the owners dont have enough. They need more and they need everyone to pay for their life style. You can take a pig out of the barn but it's still a pig.
So when you wrote that Kevin was a scam artist? you are sadly mistaken - he is not the one reaping the money. The owner is the person who needs a wake up call.
