Direct Energy air condition service and warranty Markham, Ontario Canada

In the spring of 2012 our air conditioner would not work properly. We contacted Direct Enery as it was supplied and insatalled by them and their contractor. We were told there was no warranty on the unit and we would have to take out a service contract and pay to have a technician sent out. We felt we had no choice and agreed. The man they sent could not fix the problem and said he would have to order parts.

We found out the following day that it was under warranty and the contractor sent his man who fixed the problem and no parts were required. We advised Direct Energy of this and because it was under warranty this program was not needed. they told us we had no choice but to accept it. We believe that (1) they lied to us regarding the warranty and (2) we should be reimbursed for a service call that not only was not needed but also the man was not able to resolve the problem. They refuse to cancel the program charge even though they are aware of the circumstances.
